US military strike on Iran seen by April ’07
Arab Times (Kuwait) ^ | 14th Jan 2007 | Ahmed Al-Jarallah - Editor-in-Chief

KUWAIT CITY: Washington will launch a military strike on Iran before April 2007, say sources. The attack will be launched from the sea and Patriot missiles will guard all oil-producing countries in the region, they add. Recent statements emanating from the United States indicate the Bush administration’s new strategy for Iraq doesn’t include any proposal to make a compromise or negotiate with Syria or Iran. A reliable source said President Bush recently held a meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Secretary of State Dr Condoleezza Rice and other assistants in the White House where they discussed the plan to attack Iran in minute detail.

According to the source, Vice President Dick Cheney highlighted the threat posed by Iran to not only Saudi Arabia but the whole region. “Tehran is not playing politics. Iranian leaders are using their country’s religious influence to support the aggressive regime’s ambition to expand,” the source quoted Dick Cheney as saying. Indicating participants of the meeting agreed to impose restrictions on the ambitions of Iranian regime before April 2007 without exposing other countries in the region to any danger, the source said “they have chosen April as British Prime Minister Tony Blair has said it will be the last month in office for him. The United States has to take action against Iran and Syria before April 2007.”

Claiming the attack will be launched from the sea and not from any country in the region, he said “the US and its allies will target the oil installations and nuclear facilities of Iran ensuring there is no environmental catastrophe or after effects.” “Already the US has started sending its warships to the Gulf and the build-up will continue until Washington has the required number by the end of this month,” the source said. “US forces in Iraq and other countries in the region will be protected against any Iranian missile attack by an advanced Patriot missile system.”

He went on to say “although US Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Dr Condoleezza Rice suggested postponing the attack, President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney insisted on attacking Tehran without any negotiations based on the lesson they learnt in Iraq recently.” The Bush administration believes attacking Iran will create a new power balance in the region, calm down the situation in Iraq and pave the way for their democratic project, which had to be suspended due to the interference of Tehran and Damascus in Iraq, he continued. The attack on Iran will weaken the Syrian regime, which will eventually fade away, the source said.

I was off a couple of days with a cold and happen to tune into that idiot Chris Mathews the day of President Bush's speech. The guy looked so angry ,and his face kept getting redder and redder. He kept repeating ''Bush does not listen to the ''will of the people''. ''We must get out of Iraq''!Honestly I thought he was going to explode. I can't stand the guy and I hope when he gets wind of this latest news he just spontaneously combusts!

We're fighting a largely Iranian backed insurgency in Iraq, but Iran will be different. We won't be there to hold territory but to smash things to bits. And that my friend is something the US military does exceedingly well. Once the Iranian military is turned into smoldering junk and pink goo things in Iraq will get considerably calmer.

.............things may be calmer until the Islamowhckos use an attack on Iran as an excuse to hit one or more of our cities later this summer.

I really think that just may be the sequence of events.

I'm not saying we should not do what is reported here. I am just saying that the sequence of world events over the next couple of years seems very ugly, and for one, I don't thing it will be of our making.

But that will be exactly how the Democrats and the media will portray it.

Heck, this'll be another cakewalk. I'll be surprised if there isn't a square in Tehran named after President Bush within a year.

I have my doubts that this editor has an inside pipe line to the CENTCOM planning room.

True...but then this is a Kuwait based paper, and with Patriot units and other forces being deployed to the region, it's not unthinkable that some of the regional governments may have been given a general headsup with a timeline of events, since they will be on the receiving end of Iranian short/medium range missiles.

I'd be inclined to believe this more than something from The Sunday Times.

You're right. Spitball Matthews just may burn up when he hears this.

;-)

The guy is one weird fellow.

I agree.

I have to believe it would do wonders for Iraq as well. The Iranians would be too busy trying to save their own hides.

I'm sure Bush has the day and hour red circled on his calendar, and of course have the press announce it in advance. He want's to be sure the Iranians keep that day.

To add to your point Venezuela is not that for away and they are now an Ali of Iran. Russia has been sending weapons and air power to Ven. They don't need an excuse. If they could, they would regardless.

I am always troubled when we are told "a source" is saying. Gets rumors going that can cause trouble, but we don't know who to blame if it is not true.

Chavez has a visceral hatred I think for white/European/"imperialistic" America.......... which of course includes Bush and his family. He really is making this personal with this country's original culture.

It's almost like when he was taking graduate studies in political science at Caracas' Simón Bolívar University as a younger man he tried to get lucky with some whiter than white hottie and she rebuffed his advances, telling him to take a bath ........ or a shower.

;-)

I don't like to disagree with you. You know much more history than I do.

But these people always like to tell the world that their actions are in response to aggression and poor treatment by the Great Satan. An attack on Iran would give them (in their minds) that fraudulent shroud of innocence and victimhood.

should have gone this weekend.

It's plausible. If we know nutjobs itinerary, do a Yamamoto on him. If we could do it in WW II, why can't we do it now.

While I agree with most of what you say, I doubt we will see any such action.
Sure, we could tun Iran into a gravel pile (or dung pile more accurately, since most of it's villages and towns other than Teran that they call cities are made of mud and camel poo mixed with straw) with a sustained airial bombardment, and not even have to put any shoes on the ground, but it won't happen. Bush wouldn't get the support in the spineless senate is one reason, and Europeons would really be up in arms. The French and Germans would be upset because of all the arms for cheap oil deals they would loose, and Russia and it's nuclear sales, as well as oil pipeline plans would be ruined, which wouldn't make them very happy. They'd much rather see Israel vaporized than take action against Iran.

Realize this is an Arab newspaper article, they have no "inside sources" in the whitehouse. This could be the Arab version of the onion for all we know.

More than likely she asked what happened to his penis.

"Oh, you mean it is erect....sorry."

I've a feeling their military bases are made of more substantial stuff. We'd be hitting those, not cities full of civilians.

Bush wouldn't get the support in the spineless senate is one reason,

Fortunately he doesn't need it. He gives the orders and the military drops the bobms. Let the Senate howl.

The French and Germans would be upset because of all the arms for cheap oil deals they would loose

F 'em.

and Russia and it's nuclear sales,

Good.

They'd much rather see Israel vaporized than take action against Iran.

Then it's a good thing they aren't our President.

Bush seems to have the instincts of a paratrooper....they fight better when surrounded and outnumbered.
