You got me there I truly wish I had a yard to mow but grass wont grow on coral rock.
Be very interested in your opinion the surge.
My guess is that the new order of how we prosecute the war, supposedly the gloves will be taken off here soon, will be as important as the new troops, what do you think.
Currently I Have heard our guys need to ask permission 20 times before they can even go after the bad guys. If all that changes it could dramatically impact the war.I hope!
For one thing, saying we have to win politically and these actions cannot be won militarily is bunk. Wars have been won militarily in the past (WWI and WWII). The lack of resolve to defeat the enemy and settle for a draw, as in Korea, has not worked well and abandoning a country, as we did with Vietnam, are both proof we lose when we try to win wars politically.
Surge, by itself, would not work without other factors being involved. My understanding is President Bush & Co have other factors in our favor, such as increased Iraqi military and commitments by Iraq to follow up and maintain the peace.
Not everyone wants to admit it but we have already won the war in Iraq. Remember the banner "Mission Accomplished?" I believe that was right on the money because we did accomplish the mission. However, we got sidetracked over that and the "no WMD's" bull. We got defensive about winning and the WMD's, and that hurt our resolve. Anyway, the reconstruction, or winning the peace, in Iraq is what is problematic today. Either Iraq steps up in resolve to finish the job or they don't.
