It's really hard to comprehend what it would take to completely break your will and surrender to whatever another person said or did to you.
It would take less if you were a child and an adult were the other person.

I happen to disagree with this statement. I really do believe that the individual's own personality and nature is far more indicative of what they would do; there passive or timid adults that might be far more inclined to be brainwashed than some strong-willed kid. I believe our own wills often are what can make or break us; people are pretty amazing. The bottom line is not whether some are easier to control; but that this boy was abused and tormented.
Let's all pray for his healing and for the highest penalty on Devlin. This guy should be given the death sentence (in my opinion).
Then when that video is made widely available, the next Devlin may be deterred--after all, it's not life in prison with food and television, but rather, appropriate karma, not to put too fine a point on it.
Okay, okay, I'm cherry-picking sharia law for the right punishment, and now a fatwa will be issued.
I think this 300-pound monster deserves a fatwa.
