QUOTE OF THE DAY
President Bush Participates in Volunteer Service Event on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Cardozo High School Washington, D.C.

THE PRESIDENT: This has been my honor to be here. One of the things that Mrs. King wanted was for MLK Day to be a day of service. It is not a day off, but it's a day on. And so I'm here at Cardozo High School to thank the hundreds of people who have showed up to serve the country by volunteering.

And right here in the library were with a group of folks who are sending post cards to folks who have been affected by Katrina, cards of hope, an opportunity for a citizen here to say to somebody in the New Orleans area, we care about you, people are thinking about you -- and all in the hopes of lifting somebody's spirit.

And so I not only want to thank the folks involved in this project, and thank the Attorney General for volunteering, but I encourage people all around the country to seize any opportunity they can to help somebody in need. And by helping somebody in need, you're honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King. And by helping somebody in need, you're really helping yourself because you're lifting your soul.

And so I want to thank the principal of this fine high school; I want to thank the organizers of the event; and I want to thank the volunteers, young and old, for setting aside time to make somebody else's life better.

Snugs, thanks for the trip to Sanity Island, enjoyed the trip and enjoyed the trip to Paris. Was nice seeing Mrs. Bush in front of the Monet painting.

The President spent part of the weekend at Camp David whilst the First Lady travelled to France where she is on a 3 day visit.

Thanks for the Dose, Snugs. Even if I hadn't seen your name, I would have known that you were the Dose Host tonight after reading the first sentence. If I ever used 'whilst' in conversation people would think I was putting on airs! I love it when you use it, though. It is a charming word--just not one Americans use much.

Thanks for your work. I knew that there would be good pictures yesterday when I heard that GWB was out painting a mural with students. As we all know, some of his best pictures are when he is out with regular people--especially kids.

Hi, Snugs!

Thanks for posting the DOSE!

Alright, oWf! The Ravens lost to the Colts! Don't rub it in! LOL!

But, really, Ohio, I do understand how y'all feel in Cleveland as we had the Colts "stolen" from us back in 1984.

I remember those Mayflower trucks stealing out of Baltimore in the middle of the night.

It just would have been sweet revenge for Baltimore for the Colts to have been beaten in the city they snuck out of back then.

I'm pretty sure the folks in Cleveland would have wanted the same to happened as well.
