Webb to give State of the Union response

Freshman Sen. Jim Webb, a Vietnam War veteran, will deliver the official Democratic response to President Bush's State of the Union Address, where the war in Iraq is expected to be a central topic.

As a combat veteran, Webb, D-Va., "understands personally how crucial it is to find a new direction in Iraq and begin to bring the war to a close," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) said Tuesday in announcing their choice of Webb to respond to Bush's Jan. 23 address to Congress.

"understands personally how crucial it is to find a new direction in Iraq and begin to bring the war to a close,"

If you could just do this, I'd suggest we should have done it a long time ago. I wasn't aware that a country could simply choose when it was time for a war to be over.

I'm thinking 1942 would have been a good time to end World War 2, it would have saved us a lot of grief.

Wonder if the terrorists that attacked on 9/11 are aware of their obligation because of the 2006 election to go along with the end of the war.

I wonder who will write the speech for Webb.

I wonder if he'll be able to make it through the speech without threatening to beat up somebody.

Excellent News!  Webb is a borderline psychotic, and his foaming at the mouth, shoe slamming on the table performance should be just the thing to impress upon the sleeping American Public what a mistake they've made.

Get Good'n ANGRY, Jimbo!!!

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.

So, "Evil Chuckie" gets to do the response, ay? Gosh, how nice for all of us. Especially for those of us in Virginia. We just love our new senator.

I wish George hadn't said "macaca." Now we're saddled with this supercilious, egomaniac for six years.

Ah well. Such is politics.

Oh, that explains it. Reid is probably afraid of what Webb would do if he had to be in the chambers while Bush was there, and it would be bad for the democrats if one of their own rushed the podium and had to be "restrained".

This way, Webb is off somewhere else where he can't embarass them by threatening to attack the President.

Chicken Hawk

Surrender Monkey with never-been-dirty army boots

Can we have a laugh track preset for Web's speech?

How about a "lie counter" in the bottom corner?

How about a montage word that will be used by all the media after the fact (ala gravitas)?

Is web another John "i was in viet nam" Kerry Democrat?

Will he Saaaaaaalute when he starts his little bash bush speech?

I wonder how many times web will mention "oversight".

Oversight for democrat party members means 350 commanders in chief overiding the president.

"Surrender Monkey with never-been-dirty army boots"

Webb is a Marine.
First in his class of 243 at the Marine Corps Officer's Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, he then served with the Fifth Marine Regiment in Vietnam, where as a rifle platoon and company commander in the infamous An Hoa Basin west of Danang he was awarded the Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, and two Purple Hearts.

Why not Murtha as well?

Might as well be both with the lack of respect for our military by Murtha and the lack of respect for President Bush and the office he holds by Webb. They both represent the lack of class exhibited by the left wing Dems.

All good questions? After Midway, the war in the Pacific was won. We should have withdrawn and gone home. The Japanese knew they had lost and would give back the Philippines.
