Conservative lawmakers have long suspected that college campuses are hotbeds of liberalism to the exclusion of other ideologies.
Now, armed with a formal complaint filed against Missouri State University, they are taking action.
A bill to ensure that intellectual diversity prevails at all of Missouri’s public higher education institutions has been filed in the state House. Among other things, it would require universities to report to a state board how schools are encouraging diversity through their selection of public speakers.
"It took a situation that became very public to finally say, ‘OK, enough is enough,’ " said Rep. Jane Cunningham, R-Chesterfield, the bill’s sponsor. "It’s time to make sure that our students are guaranteed their rights to what they believe in and their free speech rights, and they are not intimidated in any way from being able to follow their own conscience in the classrooms or on the campus."

I forgot to mention this young lady was given a failing grade for refusing to sign a formal letter supporting homosexual adoption.
This is a terrible idea and I'm 100 percent against it.

Sorry I misinterpreted you previous statement. I thought you were joking. Doing something is better than just sitting on an arse, which is what has been happening for 20 years while the sneaking liberals have inculcated the masses with the PC movement meaning, their is no room for alternative speech or opinions and those that would express opposition are to be verbally assaulted and belittled.
I enjoyed this part about the professor who gave Emily bad grades because he didn't like her values:

Anyway, Jaysun, I agree that this is not necessarily the right approach. All it will do is foster a new type of quota system for bringing speakers on campus and such.
But when you have some doofus like this professor of poly-sci who says, "the bill presumes there is a problem. I don’t know that there is," then they are so willfully blinded by their own ideology that they won't change unless they are re2quired to change.
This took a courageous young woman to file a lawsuit to get anything done about the growing intolerance of campus liberals. If this student had complained at the department or campus level she would have been forced to submit her signature, accept the failing grade, or withdraw from the class. A lawsuit filed with an attorney outside the institution and contacting a moderate newspaper and representative made this happen and anything short of this would have never seen daylight. You have no idea how bad it really is on college campuses until you voice an opposing opinion.

That's what's so ridiculous about what the poly-sci prof said. He acted like it was no problem to take it to the dean or through the formal complaint process. But that is useless these days, they will just work you over that much harder if you go that route.
