Aggreed, you know it is a western contrivance and a recent one that only someone 18 and over is an adult. I understand why though. Our society has a lot of serial fornicators and child molesters in it and you have have to pass more laws to protect a society as it begins its moral decline.
I live in Georgia and there still are a few examples of couples that were married in their teens. Nothing wrong with it from a Biblical standpoint, its just that our society has chosen to stigmatize it.
Today if a teen has sex outside of marriage, there is no requirement by society to get married like there used to be. In fact most parents today really give their teen a pass on fornication.
