Electric heater thing is about the one in Palo Alto.
Concrete would be the worst thing for insulation. The warmest houses here are wood frame with lots of fiberglass.
do you live in Palo Alto?
do you even live in CA?
40 degrees is just jacket weather....
No, I went there a several times for short stay(1~2weeks.) Compared with Mid-West, that is how I felt. In Mid-West, it is brutal outside, but inside, you could stay warm most of the time. In California, the difference between indoor temperature and outdoor temperature during the winter is not much different. At least that is how I felt it.
Yeah, I am sure there are better materials these days. Come to think of it, there were no brick walls either. Architecture of houses is also geared for warm weather. Many large window doors and such. Anyway, I did not see the kind of setup we can see at houses in Midwest.
well I don't know what tent you were "staying in" but I am a CA Native and have owned homes here for 30 years and the INSULTAION in all of my homes was and is EXCELLENT as is any home built in the last 40 friggin years in CA and anywhere else in America!
gezzzzz..
I will stay at your home in my next winter trip to California if you let me.:-)
you must not have a clue
heck even the homeless have insulated cardboard condos
Well, maybe they tried to save electric bill, and left me in an unheated house all day long.:-) Anyway, it is true that I felt warmer indoors in Midwest than in California at the time.
I was commenting to a pal in Thunder Bay, Ontario about how cold it is here in San Diego. He called me names I shouldn't repeat here.
More evidence of global cooling. If we don't get more greenhouse gasses into the air, we're all going to freeze!
