It's things like this that make republics weak in wartime. That's why in times of crisis, most republics throughout history have elected a temporary dictator. George Washington was one for 6 months. Lincoln and FDR were, for all intents and purposes, given near dictatorial power.

We're not at that point yet in the war against radical Islam. But maybe soon, especially if the geniuses in Congress keep giving aid and comfort to the enemy....
