A very good reason for conservatives to take the Globe's reporting with a grain of salt.
Perhaps, everything they are reporting is true. Perhaps not. But the first question conservatives should ask themselves is, "Why is the Globe so intent on attacking Romney?"
Perhaps because Romney is the only Republican candidate from Massachusetts. After all, it is the Boston Globe. Frankly, I don't think the national Democrats are particularly afraid of Mitt Romney.
So will we see the Boston Globe host virtual debates of Dems? Hillary vs. Hillary? Obama vs. Obama? Edwards vs. Edwards? Yada Yada. Yeah right!
Whether people like it or not, politicians change views for a variety of expedient reasons. The real question is will they make expedient repositioning/promises and then fulfill them. I believe Romney has as governor and would as president.
Is it a shame that one needs to be physically appealing, camera friendly, have quick responses? Depends. But the reality is that the Globe knows that Romney has the potential to grab a variety of converts. Their scrutinizing of Romney is just a follow-through on their attacks on Romney when campaigning/performing for/as governor.
