The founders of the US did not think God belonged only in the hidden places you suggest. They premised their hopes for the republic entirely on reliance on Him, and in the public square at that. They knew that without Him, their best efforts were useless.

Actually they were secular humanist elightenment skeptics to a man, the founders were, except for Hamilton, who vacillated. Religion to them was like fire: it had benefits to the public square, but dangerous, and needed a fire company to keep it in check. Read the Moral Minority and get back to me with your thoughts. So, I took a deep breath and read your page and wish to remind you that all (all) of the states, except for Massachusetts are grateful to God while the wise old men of Massachusetts demoted Him to:

What you still don't see is that none (none) of the States refer to Christianity.
