An islamic wifebeater, who'da thunk it? The worst thing this guy did in the eyes of the leaders and congregation is get caught. I'm sure the other leaders have been counseled: "When you're smacking around your wife, make sure she's intimidated enough that she won't run to the cops."

I thought slapping women around was a resume builder for these guys.

But you have to make sure she doesn't call the cops. The mosque will have to revamp their Wifebeating 101: Knocking your wife around without getting caught.

I'm beginning to suspect that to be an imam you need to memorize the koran and have a BMI of 29 or better.

Police said they responded to a "domestic-related incident" at Din's home a week ago, and the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office reported an attempt to serve a protective order against him on Thursday. Was her color of choice in burka wear unappealing to her husband?

I'm surprised the imam didn't file a complaint against the police and make them undergo sensitivity training..and you have no idea how much I wish that was a sarcastic remark.

I'm beginning to suspect that to be an imam you need to memorize the koran and have a BMI of 29 or better. It's about removing temptation - the Imams eat all the Twinkies so that their followers will remain skinny, which allows for much more effective blast patterns when they are sent to do their final religious duty. ;)

"His greatest concern is his kids," the relative said. "He just wants to talk to them and know they're OK." Who could argue with his compassion?
After all, he's an Imam. Right?
After all his compassion towards his mate has proved to be honorable.

"...and the housing of "suspicious" individuals in the mosque." This is the part we probably want to keep our eye on.

AFAIC, imams should be encouraged to shirk their "duty"..

That's probably why he was beating his wife who was unhappy with his new friends.

The relative said the abrupt departure - one that left the imam "in shock" - was driven by something more than his marital issues. The imam, the relative said, had recently raised concerns about board finances, the exclusion of women from the board and the housing of "suspicious" individuals in the mosque. hmm. No doubt the Imam beat his wife, as any good Muslim should. And no doubt his relative is putting the best face on it. But I wonder if the Imam is the only villain in the picture. Is the mosque housing terrorists? Is the board stealing funds? These are nests of trouble in our country. Because we know that mosques ARE regularly used to conceal weapons and terrorists. It's common practice in the middle east, in Europe, around the world, and no doubt here in America too.

"His greatest concern is his kids," the relative said. "He just wants to talk to them and know they're OK."
Or, in the alternative, to know where they are so he can silence them.
To: Excuse_My_Bellicosity
The imam, the relative said, had recently raised concerns about board finances, the exclusion of women from the board and the housing of "suspicious" individuals in the mosque. So the wife-beating incident was just an excuse to get rid of an imam who was biting the hand (Saudi Wahhab oil money) that fed him.
PS: A BOLO for a suspicious individual in a mosque really narrows it down, doesn't it?

Every member of that board should be arrested for aiding and abetting a terrorist(s).
Somebody needs to teach these barbarians that in the United States you work WITH law enforcement, not against them.
