U.S. radar base request stirs Russian warning

PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AP) - The United States has asked the Czech Republic to host a radar base that would be part of a global missile defense system, the prime minister announced Saturday, drawing a warning from Russia of retaliatory actions.
U.S. officials contend the system could defend Europe against intercontinental missiles fired by states such as Iran and North Korea. But the Kremlin warned that the military balance in Europe could be at stake and said the development risked a new arms race.
Independent defense experts have said the ground-based missile defense system is still years from being able to protect against long-range missile attacks.
The United States declined comment on Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek's statement. But the United States has been negotiating with Poland and the Czech Republic, both former communist states now in NATO, as it explores setting up missile defense sites in Eastern Europe.
The U.S. has missile interceptor bases in Alaska and California. It activated a powerful X-band radar site in northern Japan as part of the system last September, but so far has no anti-missile weapons based outside U.S. territory.
Bring it on, it would take us all of a half hour to bankrupt Russia again.

Accually Russia will build just second "country buster" this time for Czechs. Russia will prove to them that such move just decreases thier security.

What's really laughable is that the Russian Army is digging potatos up so they won't starve, selling their weapons to terrorists for some pocket change, and most times are too drunk to even load a weapon.

The Russian point is that such US moves change the MAD (mutially assured destruction) which is present now. This makes Russia to re-start R&D in nuke tech and/or manufacturing of new weapons systems since otherwise Russia considers itself under danger from the USA.

Well with any luck there will soon be another 'accident' at one of those Russian weapons facilities famous the world over for their complete lack of quality control and attention to even the most basic safety procedures.

Do give us a call when the Czech military is at the gates of Moscow. Come to think of it, they probably could. All it would take is a bit of bribery and Russian border guards would most likely wave the entire Czech military in and sell them everything in the Russian military inventory for vodka money.
