WASHINGTON — The Weather Channel is standing by a staff climatologist who is taking some heat after blogging that TV weather forecasters who are skeptical man-made global warming should lose their professional certification. Climate expert Heidi Cullen defended herself last week in The Weather Channel One Degree Climate Change blog after questioning the fitness of meteorologists who disagree with her conclusions. "I've read all your comments saying I want to silence meteorologists who are skeptical of the science of global warming. That is not true," wrote Cullen, host of "The Climate Code with Dr. Heidi Cullen," a weekly global warming program on The Weather Channel. "The point of my post was never to stifle discussion. It was to raise it to a level that doesn't confuse science and politics. Freedom of scientific expression is essential." Cullen raised Cain last month when she suggested that the American Meteorological Society decertify meteorologists who don't warn about climate change. "If a meteorologist has an AMS Seal of Approval, which is used to confer legitimacy to TV meteorologists, then meteorologists have a responsibility to truly educate themselves on the science of global warming," Cullen wrote in the blog. "If a meteorologist can't speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS shouldn't give them a seal of approval."

TWC should have a presenter from the opposite viewpoint. Nothing like a monopoly on unproven scientific gobbledygook.
She should shut up and thereby earn some carbon credits.
I hate to see the Weather Channel get caught up in politics. They provide a needed news service, and like my beliefs about news services, it should not be biases. They have enough to talk about by presenting the facts while staying away from a political agenda.
Taking a cue from Rosie and The Donald, Cullen has drawn attention to herself and her obscure show by being outrageous. So much for science.

Never forget it was Democrats who made the weather a political issue. Of course, it is partially Republicans' fault for not pointing their fingers and laughing every time a Democrat brought it up. ;-)

The fact that appears above the story is ample evidence that Fox takes this issue as political discussion in spite of Ms. Cullen's denials to that effect.
Science and politics can't mix without adulterating both.
What makes her a Climate expert other than the fact that she is a meteorologist? From what I've heard, not a single serious meteorologist believes in human generated global warming.

It must be really embarrasing for this woman to be reminded that 17,000 real scientists do not subscribe to her view, whereas only 4000 do (I'll pretend for a moment that those are all truly scientists).

Combining her interests, Heidi has studied historic drought and climate variability in the Middle East as well as the application of forecasts to water resource management in the La Plata Basin of South America. Her doctoral research at Columbia focused in part on the dynamics of the North Atlantic Oscillation as well as its impact on freshwater supplies in the Middle East.

I don't mind Storm Stories, but now that The Weather Channel has gone apocalyptic..with Climate Code, and It Could happen Tomorrow with their "what if/the sky is falling" junk, I tune into Weather Plus for my forecast news.
People who turn on the Weather Channel want to know what the weather is, and what it will be during the week.

The first pix of Cullen is obviously one taken by Weather Channel photogs AFTER the beauty consultants have re-made all of the on-camera female meteorologists. The pix of Cullen with the blue border is shockingly similar to Hilary Clintoon. This picture is probably most closely aligned with Cullen's true personality. Yuck.
It looks like GW will soon hit the critical mass necessary to become a genuine "Big Lie". A lie so big, and told so many times, that if you deny it you are the one who is wrong.
The Weather Channel is shameless, claiming that they "don't have a political position". GW is all about politics. There can be no "keeping people from harms way" regarding global warming hypothesis except via politics.
