My response to the RNC.
Whenever, I read about the President's low poll numbers, I can't help but think that while half of those disapproving of the president are hardcore left wingers who would disapprove of the President no matter what, the other half are probably conservatives frustrated that the President and the Republican party have seemingly abandoned the principles of conservatism that gave the party a majority in the first place. So, if this e-mail is actually an attempt to listen to the base, and not just build up the fund raising database, I do have some advice.
1. No Amnesty for illegal aliens. And get serious about building the border fence and enforcing our immigration laws. (Do more than a photo-op raid of a single meat packing plant.)
2. Quit spending like unrestrained Democrats, and quit creating multi-billion dollar new entitlement programs. Pandering for votes in this manner will not work, because those looking for such new entitlement programs will always vote Democrat.
3. Start sounding like Winston Churchill wend talking about Iraq. If a single American solider dies, the left portrays it as a sign the war is lost. We should be publicizing the enemy's losses and defeats and not simply accepting the left's politically motivated gloom assessment of the war effort. (As someone who recently returned from Afghanistan, the administration's refusal to confront the left on the lack of support for the troops is particularly disturbing)
So, in summary, if the RNC would worry about it's base and quit trying to win the approval of the DNC, we may not see a repeat of the November 06 debacle.
