Problem is that Rudy is a Northeast Liberal, but he won't carry any of the liberal Northeast states. Not even New York.

I'll debate him. He might not be so tough as he thinks he is.

Many so-called moderates and independents will vote for Rudy. If he gets the GOP nod, these voters will off-set the "my way or the highway" crowd in the GOP.

What we need for a candidate is one with Gingrich's intellect and politics - but not his morals!
And with Giuliani's toughness and decisiveness - but not his politics!
(nor his morals...)

The positive media protection for rudy will dry up as soon he goes up against a democrat for president.
Rudy supporters are falling for the media playing possum on the RINOs. His "electability" is being played up by the media and lapped up by the rudy supporters. This goes against history in the fact that when republicans run conservatives who espouse a conservative ideology, they win. When they run RINOs, they lose.
They want to get everyone caught up in how well liked rudy is and how he could win. Then when the time comes, every flaw they glossed over will be exposed and examined.

Actually, that is one of his ONLY pluses.
It was a pleasure to listen to how he handled press conferences. That is what made him popular.
Bloomberg sounds like Jerry Lewis playing the nutty professor. It is nauseating.

It looks as though the Republicans would rather vote for a man that is open about his agenda (liberal as it may be) and a tenacious pit bull on national security and crime than a vindictive, loose cannon whose only real agenda is self promotion.
Once again, national security, (foreign and domestic) trumps social issues. We need to get the security under control before we can worry about the domestic issues.

The country needs a "pit bull" not another "islam is a religion of peace and love" whiner.

I have no objection to Rudy if he follows one rule: appointing judges whose views are similar to those W has appointed. We don't need any more like Stevens and Souder.

"Reagan passed the most liberal abortion laws in the country and the most liberal divorce laws in the country as governor (of California), and then ran as the pro-life, social-conservative presidential candidate," Norquist said. Can someone comment on this? (FACTUALLY, please, there have been enough rants around here already!) I am not familiar with Reagan's history as a governor. I am interested in whether or not this statement is correct -- that he passed liberal social policy as a governor and then reversed himself when he achieved the WH.

Yes, Rudy will have a problem with the conservative base. However, he can handle that if he gives conservatives three good reasons to stand up and cheer. He can pick the issues, and there are plenty of good ones to pick from.

Keep trying to feed us all the bs. Neither I, nor any other member of my family will vote for such man. He needs to run on the libertarian ticket; not the republican.
