The Coming Amnesty Disaster (Michelle Malkin)
townhall.com ^ | 1/24/07 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 01/24/2007 3:54:14 AM PST by beyond the sea

Last month, President Bush signed off on a few dog-and-pony illegal immigrant employment raids. Whoop-de-doo. Politically expedient holiday gestures over, the White House is now back to work pushing its long-planned, massive alien amnesty. The state of the borders, green card process and entrance system for visitors and tourists? Porous. Chaotic. Understaffed. And overwhelmed.

But no matter. Mouthing his same old, bogus platitudes about the need to allow "undocumented workers" to do the job Americans won't do (never mind all those Americans who immediately lined up to apply for those meatpacking jobs after the December raids), Bush wants to pile millions of new "guest worker" illegal alien applicants onto the teetering homeland security bureaucracy.

The results will be disastrous. What President Bush didn't mention in the State of the Union address is that every part of the current legal immigrant applicant machinery that would be tasked with implementing the "guest worker" illegal alien amnesty is backlogged and broken.

Last November, congressional investigators reported that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) had lost track of 111,000 files in 14 of the agency's busiest district offices and processed as many as 30,000 citizenship applications last year without the required files.

.............

"It only takes one missing file of somebody with links to a terrorist organization to become an American citizen," Grassley, who is chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, noted in The Washington Post. "We can't afford to be handing out citizenship with blinders on."

Or legal status. Multiply that by several million in the case of Bush's guest worker program. Can you spell d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r?

Amnesty should be voted on by the people, not by old politicians for political gain. This deserves a people vote!!! Bush and Republicans should call for a nationwide referendum.

Uh the people did vote on it on Nov. 2nd and the immigration hardliners lost.

Thems the facts.

New jails will just be a minor expense. After the last Amnesty, my county had to build 5 new welfare offices, even got a Dept. of Labor waiver to avoid paying 'prevailing wages' so great was the need.

Plus to had to buy a old K-mart store just for additional space to process the welfare checks.

Thanks for nothing Bush!

While voting twice for President Bush I will forever think poorly of him if he pushes this.

That's nothing. I voted for Jorge FOUR times. Unbelievable how he's failed us.

"We are incapable of imposing order and handling the current crush of legal immigrant applicants in a fair and timely way. You want "comprehensive immigration reform"? Start with border control, reliable adjudications, consistent interior enforcement, and efficient and effective deportation policies. And don't pretend that piling on is going to fix a darned thing.

Michelle nails it pretty good in this article!

"1. Make it a federal crime, punishable by a minimum one year in prison, to employ an illegal

2. Make it a federal crime, punishable by a minimum one year in prison to provide any taxpayer-funded social services to an illegal alien, except for critical, life-saving ER services. No college tuition breaks, no public school, no welfare, foodstamps, rent subsidies, no nothing.

3. Create a federal law to cut any funding or tax breaks for any city, state, or religious organization that provides assistance to illegal aliens. Use that law to immediately cut all funding, of any kind, for any city that establishes themselves as a "safe haven" for illegals."

You just came up with the simple sollution. Way better than the Senate Amnesty bill.

Remember what our Citizenship is valued at by the President. 2 years labor and a $500.00 fine? Then you get to bring your large family get it all the support you need from the American tax payer.

He is selling us out!

I wonder if this country will ever regain sufficient spine to take the measures necessary to preserve a place of freedom and opportunity for our children. Personally, I don't see it happening. Perhaps something will occur that will wake the masses, but it seemed to me that before the last election the time was right to take the momentum and do something dramatic to cure the looming disaster of illegal aliens.

I see no such opportunity today.' I wonder if the government we have is enough for the job that's going to be required in the next generation.

I can. I can also spell T-R-E-A-S-O-N.

If the President signs off on a free pass for 60 million uneducated infected welfare cases which WILL reduce the united States to a sludgpit of human rejects he will have self-fulfilled the democrats communists accusations of being the worst president in history.

We will soon see what G.W.B. REALLY is. A man or a bought stooge.

You're absolutely right...it is just like a perfect storm..exactly as the OBL agenda has dictated. Had Bush and the Republican party united AGAINST CIR and Amnesty, such a perfect storm would never exist and Republicans would still be in the majority, CIR would be dead, our borders would be effectively secured, no path to citizenship (amnesty) would be granted and as a nation of laws, they would be enforced. But that was never the plan.....

"Our biggest challenge will be to separate my uncle from the rest of the Republican Party."

“‘This is a President who represents the diversity of our society, who WE can count on TO CHANGE the Republican Party to represent OUR views.’" … He told the rally his mother had instilled him the values of Cesar Chavez, the Chicano activist who fought for the rights of migrant farmworkers in the United States. ‘She told me WE have to fight for OUR RACE, we have to find the LEADERS WHO REPRESENT US,’ he said in fluent Spanish.’

"recently they promised bigger and better rallies soon, big difference this time will be the democratic control congress"

Well, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Bush and the democratic controlled congress are out there, marching right with them!!
After all, Bush is the grand marshall in all this. Why else would he have done nothing about millions of illegal and their supporters taking to our streets, shutting down major cities across the country, and in a post 9/11 world, overwhelming Law Enforcement, and risking our national security. And it didn't happen just once. Nothing was done to prevent it or stop it. There wasn't even a peep about it from D.C. Nothing.

"And how many out of the 60 million would go straight on Social Security and or SSI??"

As a Disabled American Citizen, I have already felt the affects of the enormous number of illegal immigrants ALREADY bogging down the Social Security system in an effort to collect medicaid via SSI...it's the reason it has taken me more then three years to complete the process for Social Security DISABILITY. I worked my azz off for many years, paid into the benefit, unfortunately became seriously disabled, and now must wait my turn in line behind 10,000 other Ohioan 'citizen' applicants, stealing the benefits paid for by me, while every bit of my savings becomes depleted.

I'd give pretty good odds the border fence never gets done even though it seemed a done deal.
