"Mississippi has more welfare queens than Louisiana."
I'm gonna need a source to back that up. MS has only about 3/5 the population of LA and fewer urban areas.

It's better now, people have a place too live. The Coast, wiped out, but we have power, water , we work. We live, we won't be defeated, we are not victims. GBU

In our FEMA Park, we are right next too a big FEMA (building / warehouse) I don't know what it is.
Bottom line, I've seen no one wearing "FEMA GEAR". I know who they are by the Gov tags though, and I see them coming in and out of the building we are next too.
No one wears a FEMA Jacket, they get berated.

If I were president (yea, like I'd want the job)... this would have been my mention: "Don't be a fool by living below sea level."
Now that would have been a show stopper.

Good for you. Our home was destroyed by Ivan. We lived in an office complex for 5 months before we could find a good home to buy. FEMA didn't come to the rescue, but then again we didn't search them out either. There were other people who needed the help worse than us. Wifey and I both had jobs, so we pulled our family out of the mess.
That's just life. You're either a survivor or a victim.

"Louisiana had nearly 80% of the storm damage from two hurricanes received only 55% of federal relief funds. Mississippi, with 23% of the damage, received 45% of the relief funds. You'd think that Texas who sheltered nearly a quarter-million refugees, and then got hit with Rita a month later might get some of that 'free' fed-money too.

**San Francisco and Galveston weren't rebuilt with Federal money, and Louisiana won't be, either.**
Exactly.
It will require private investment, and right now the prospects of that are remote.

Speaking of coordinated "news" stories, the CBS Evening News had a segment about Bush's speech. Coric said in effect that the speech mentioned a far away place like Iraq but there was not one mention of New Orleans. And then some reporter went around asking people living in FEMA trailers what they thought about the president's speech since he did not mention New Orleans. Of course, the trailer people were all "angry" because the president "ignored" them. Katie, there are a lot of people angry at the president. End of story.
What is significant is that the reporter did not ask, "What do you think of Blanco's accusation that President Bush is ignoring Katrina victims?" Instead, the reporter took Blanco's talking point directly and said more or less, "Do you feel neglected because President Bush did not mention Katrina victims in his speech?" The story was not about Blanco's accusation (which was not mentioned at all). The story was just a repeat of Blanco's accusation taken at face value presented as an "investigative report."

governsleastgovernsbest, Wilhelm Tell has pointed out obvious coordination of stories, which I suspect was engineered by Edwards or Webb, since both have latched onto Katrina recovery as a way to criticize the President. Read through the story and then read Wilhelm Tell's post above mine.

The head of Louisiana's Homeland Security was just on our local TV news in a segment with Nagin and he said that there is $600 million available just for NOLA from his office but that nobody in NOLA has filled out the paperwork to request it!

LOL, a FEMA trailer park!
To: dread78645
Well, we've gotten $800 million throughout the state, but it sounds like Blanco thinks they should have sent it to them in LA and let *them* distribute it to *their* people, instead of to *their* former residents who are now camping out here.

Governor Kathleen Blanco was visibly angry on Wednesday...In last year's State of the Union, you heard the president speak of Katrina, but people who remain in FEMA trailers say the lack of mention this year leaves them angry...
These people sound like Muslims - "angered".
Time for the Two Minute Hate.
