We don't get near enough global warming. 3 years ago we had a pretty good summer, all of my sunflowers made it to the point where I could harvest some seeds.

I thought that Alaska is a unique case since so much of the state income comes from oil revenue. Is that correct?

BTW, I've been many places in the world but I have never seen scenery as dramatic as in Alaska!

Alaska gets about 80% of its revenue from the oil patch. The pipeline carries about 1/2 of what it did just 10 years ago.

We used to have a fishing industry, till the Greenies wanted to save the ocean.

We used to have a timber industry, till Bill CLinton and his greenie buds put it all off limits.

We used to make a little money from tourists who wanted to fish, but now you are linited to one salmon because the FedGov has given subsitance rights, it seems, to everyone Native.

Just over 2% of Alaska land is in private hands and you have to kiss a hundred Government asses to get anything done.

We do have a thriving military presence and a large cargo trans-shipment industry. If not for that, Anchorage and Fairbanks would be about 1/2 the size they are today.

We have some small mines and a bit of ecotourism, but the jobs trypically pay just over min wage in a very expensive place to live. Example, Gary Line bus driver, $9/hr and you have to pay your own lodging and food on overnight trips....

The biggest (nongovt) industry in Alaska (Based on cash flow) is healthcare, the largest employer in the state is a hospital. 2nd largest employer is Safeway food stores.

Please come and visit, we could use the money.
