San Jose, Calif., January 25, 2007 -- Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s husband was a major beneficiary of military appropriations blessed by a subcommittee that she headed, Metro Newspapers reports this week.

Feinstein (D-Calif.) acted in a conflict of interest while approving billions of dollars in military construction expenditures for the global war on terror, according to an investigative story by award-winning journalist Peter Byrne. The story was published jointly in the North Bay Bohemian and Metro Silicon Valley weekly newspapers this week. Research assistance was provided by the Investigative Fund of the Nation Institute.

Following Feinstein’s participation at the legislative level, large contracts were awarded to two firms — URS Corporation and Perini Corporation — that were controlled by an investment group headed by the senator’s spouse, financier Richard C. Blum.

Byrne's investigation reveals the following details about Feinstein’s service as a member of the United States Senate’s Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee (MILCON).

" Now we shall see if their actions match their rhetoric."

Not going to happen. But - you knew that. Nonetheless, a drum beat is needed and necessary.

You are right about that -- this will be okay because it is Feinstein. The other year Boeing had officials sent to prison on the Tanker Contract where Darlene Drunyun (sp) worked for the AF and made a sweetheart deal to go to work for Boeing.

Believe Feinstein should have the same treatment because this is more then a conflict of interest since she voted to give the contract money to her husband.

Drum Beat needs to keep on going. I already wrote my two Senators Inhofe and Coburn asking them to launch an investigation! :)

Fortunately here in OK we don't see that from our media -- they report facts in their articles. Even the editorials go after both sides for the most part.

She won't go but I think all of us on FR should be after her to resign. I am surprised this article saw the light of day to begin with. Already wrote Senators Inhofe and Coburn and know they won't take any part of the blame.

Feinstein at the least needs removed from Armed Services and should never have been put on there to begin with since her husband was a contractor doing business with DoD.

Culture of Corruption DemocRAT!

I remember this and remember how disgusted this was at the time. Wish Rush or O'Reilly would check these out.

You realize of course that any attempt to get Beerstein to step down, with a precarious balance of Republicans in the Senate and a Republican Governor in Kaleefornia, would mean all out war don't you? Do you still want her to step down? You do? Well - SO DO I! LOL

Keep up the drumbeat and keep your powder dry!

I remember her clownish campaign commercial where she was talking to a young girl and gushing about how she's going to fight global warming. She's wants to be in Washington like most of them: to enrich herself and her friends.

It's ok. I listen to him and Art Bell when I need to get to sleep. It's a wonder I don't have nightmares about the coming superstorm and chupacabras and out of body experiences with Linda Molten and Howe!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!
