Marlboro county authorities are investigating a shootout at a Blenheim convenience store.
It happened shortly after eleven Tuesday night at McArthur's Trax on North Main Street.
The store's owner and customer didn't let the robber leave without a fight.
In 21 years of business Billy McArthur never had to use the gun he keeps in his store.
That was, until Tuesday night.
"We were all in there and then all of a sudden someone busted in the door, with a gun in his hand and was talking about give me your money," said McArthur.
Mcarthur says there were at least five people in the store at the time- a crowd the robber, probably didn't see coming.
McArthur says the suspect walked into the store, up to the counter and demanded money, that's when a customer approached the suspect, the suspect then turned around, and he shot the man.
The customer's son then grabbed a nearby can of beans and threw it at the robber, which gave McArthur time to grab his gun, and fire a round at the suspect.
The bullet missed the man, but McArthur says the message was clear.
"If I got a chance to shoot them, I'm gonna shoot them...that's just all there is to it," said McArthur.
Now the suspect's on the loose, the customer's in the hospital and McArthur's fielding questions from just about everyone in town.
Billy McArthur says after all these years, he didn't expect a robbery.
Now he says anyone else who plans on harming him or his business should expect, a fight.
Investigators are still looking for the suspect in this case.

They used the word he, so it must be a male, get those calls in.
Kudos to the good guys though, they are a gutsy bunch, I just think that all that sacrifice by the citizens, deserves a better description from the government.
"One of these days, somebody will call one of those tiplines with information because of a story they saw on FR"
LOL,
I didn't mean that though, I meant that they never give us a description to work with.
All those people must have been able to put together some kind of description, but the authorities hide it from us, while at the same time pretending to be asking for our help.
I can think of at least two reasons.
1.These stories are interesting.
2.People like to know that somebody is doing something about crime.
SC Ping, ping, pow, bang....you know.
You mean tonight, or just in general?
Tonight, I'm catching up from this week, where I've been busy.
If you're asking in general, stories of civilians using guns to save life and limb add a very entertaining portion to the stack of what researchers have estimated to be 2.5 million defensive uses of firearms each year. In general, liberal politicians want to restrict and/or ban handgun use, concealed carry, etc. (John McCain is an example of a "Republican" who heavily supports gun control.)
These stories add heart and soul to the political aspect of the issue. This is about life and death, not some politician's utopian dream of a gunless society. (Where, I suppose, we'd only club or stab each other to death, having had guns taken away.)
"These stories add heart and soul to the political aspect of the issue."
Very true.
I think Customer makes a really bad move at this point in the narritive.
YEE HAW.
Now they're going to have to outlaw cans of beans.
"Now they're going to have to outlaw cans of beans."
That kind of stood out to me too, this sounds like a pretty good group of men to have been together at once under these circumstances, in a little quick stop store.
Too bad for the criminal, but it says a lot about the South.
Bush's Fault
LOL, good one!
I reckon they can't write too complicated. They've got to match their dumbed down audience.
South Carolina Ping
Add me to the list. / Remove me from the list.
Please welcome our latest South Carolina ping list member, Rodney Kings Brain.
Because firearms in the hands of the good guys stop alot of criminals. The MSM rarely reports it, but it happens.
Great description of the robber by the media. He was male.(/s)
Why so many posts about people shooting intruders?
There's probally not enough, leaving many intruders getting away without being shoot at.
Could be those against firearms are trying to use these stories to alarm folks.
LOL! Very nice!
Maybe there is some progress be made at newspapers to allow these stories.
LOL
Brave kid! Wonder how old he is?
This is/is becoming the current journalistic style.
None of my neighbors are worth it.
How about alleged customer?
