Oh this is great journalism. He writes the "US" but never quotes any agency. The one that looks crazy is the crazy aussie writer.

God help us when the government has power to impact the climate.
We need a Constitutional amendment, and a global treaty, outlawing attempts by governments and global organizations to interfere with the climate.

"The US wants the world's scientists to develop technology to block sunlight as a last-ditch way to halt global warming."
This would be a stupid thing to do... "It's not wise to fool mother nature."

Anthropogenic climate change is blithering nonsense - but I guess it might be useful one day to be able to reduce the effect of a massive solar flare.

Smithers: Well, Sir, you've certainly vanquished all your enemies: the elementary school, the local tavern, the old age home...you must be very proud.
Burns: [stuffing money into his wallet] No, not while my greatest nemesis still provides our customers with free light, heat and energy. I call this enemy...the sun! Since the beginning of time man has yearned to destroy the sun. I will do the next best thing: block it out!

I doubt this is possible, but heaven forbid if these idiots really could reverse the warming and trigger cooling. Another glacial period would not be good news for mankind.
