Duncan Hunter Pushes Platform On Sunday Talk Show

Most Americans support sending more troops as reinforcements to Iraq. That is the message from congressman Duncan Hunter.

Hunter's own son is serving a second tour of duty there.

The Alpine congressman will head to New Hampshire Monday as he tries to get his name out there for the presidential race. He appeared on a Sunday morning talk show to promote his candidacy.

Among his priorities was keeping illegal immigrants from crossing into the U.S.

"We have to have enforceable borders and I think the message to America is, since 9/11, border security's not just an immigration issue, it's primarily a security issue," Hunter said.

Since the fences were built along the San Diego, Tijuana border, Hunter said illegal immigration rates have gone down dramatically.

The joke about his stance on immigration (and I agree with him) is that it likely won't matter. He won't be able to undo the damage done before he becomes President, should he win. So all the 2008 candidates can basically say whatever they want. We are too late. We lost the immigration issue in the last election. Just watch and weep. But as for your 2008 Presidential vote, give more weight to the issues that will actually hit hardest DURING that term.

That's not to say I don't consider supporting Hunter. I'm just saying that it's Bush and the current Congress we should worry about. The next Prez. can only close the barn door after the horse is stolen.

I am a 100% Duncan Hunter Supporter. All the rest can GTH.

He's the only Republican who is worth voting for. If it ain't Duncan, I 'll vote for Hillary, ( revenge against the RINOs vote).

I think he ought to start making sure their is plenty of both at every campaign stop. Refuse to show if it isn't there.

(A "Duncan Booth" would make a big splash too.)

I looked at duncanhunter.org and duncanhunter.com. The former is obviously owned by a liberal.

Why doesn't the guy have a web site where people can send contributions?

Don't look for any signs of DH electoral viability from the FR DH brigade. Polls? Fundraising? Endorsements? Press? Web presence? Campaign events? Major speeches? Top level campaign operatives?

The lack of these usual indicators of a viable campaign faze the DH fans not at all (until DH merits a modest achievement like registering something other than * in a poll, then that will be lauded from the rooftops).

If you stop by his office in person they can take your Master Charge or Bank Americard for a donation.
