there otta be a law.. ---

LOL..... that used to be a great comic in the papers back in the 50's.

Is it still around?

And on Michael, he just had a bad day yesterday, I know that. He can be an *ss at times, I say "so what" to that.

But most of all, I was pretty much amazed at how little he knew about the body of a horse and the nature of these injuries.

He really was not only just cynically wondering about the $$$$ angle. He also belittled the injuries. It was more than surprising how ignorant he was on the medical subject and the blood circulation in and nature of the leg of a horse.

It was surprising. I have always cherished his knowledge on things. That impression of him is a bit over now.

But, I'll give him a bit of a pass, because I know that he's a little nuts". That's one of the reasons I like(d) him so much. I like people who have emotions exposed like his do. But I also covet, even more, sweet and sensitive individuals who have a great heart for innocent animals.

Yesterday he didn't and it was not pretty....... it was embarrassing.

Oh well....... thanks for your reply.

From the start I (like most) thought the horse was a goner.

I'm surprised it survived this long.

I recall Mike's critical comments regarding bullfighting, and how they make the bull suffer a slow death in the ring. He also said that he couldn't stand the sight of a frog being dissected, and that's what kept him from going into medicine.

He certainly has sympathy for animals, but I must say I didn't actually hear him belittle the horse itself.

Those are some of the sentiments that made me like Mike very much. He has a real kind and good heart for animals.

He did not belittle the horse, for God's sake. But he belittled everything and everybody who was around this horse over the past eight months. It was just his lowest moment.

I pray that his people see this discussion here at FR, and that he comes on this evening and tries to set things straight and make things right. But, he most likely will not.

I know that he loves animals, but it certainly came off really poorly yesterday.

****

And let me add this ....... if you are going to come across like a cynical, callous goon like you did yesterday, I say, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT, Mr. Savage!!!

This is mere speculation, but maybe had the owners treated the horse PROPERLY in the first place, he wouldn't have got hurt in the second place.

BTW if you're serious about Savage apologizing on his speculations and motives of the horse caretakers I wouldn't hold my breath anymore than I would hoping for #1 seed Sharapova to beat #81 seed Serena, or Levin ever becoming as popular as Savage.

You were better off before that really foolish post.

You should have left well enough alone.

Goodbye.

The following post is in response to a FReepmail sent to me from a Barbaro "fan," and really says it all:

Whose comments regarding the "tragic death" of Barbaro? Don't you think the gushing praises bestowed upon this horse with the words "brave" and "courageous" are a little over the top? The *real* heroes are the men and women who are serving (and have served) in Afghanistan and Iraq, and a whip isn't required to motivate them into doing their jobs. Enough with the sentimental hogwash about a trained animal and its wealthy, elite owner(s)!

'Nuff said! Time to move on and get back to more important and pressing matters. RIP, Barbaro!
