Baker loves anyone who hates the Jooooos.
Two-tracks, hard cop/soft cop; all with an eye on the 2008 election.
I bet he's making a whole lot more money by being a moron than (even) Carter has/is/wlll.
Baker's shilling for the Saudis'
More like hard cop/corrupt cop in Baker's case.
Azerbaijan has formal involvement with James Baker as he serves on the Honorary Council of Advisers for the U.S. Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce

Caspian oil also is central to the Clinton administration's internal debate over U.S. relations with Tehran. Some American oil companies view Iran as the cheapest, fastest exit route for Caspian oil; that's counter to other interests and Clinton administration policy favoring continued U.S. government efforts to isolate the Islamic state.
Baker, Iran's best PR man.
James Baker is an a..
"visit by Bandar to Tehran where he met with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hoseini-Khamenei on January 25, 2007, before meeting at length next day with Larijani."
I thought you said Khameinie was dead?
Did Pakistan perfect nuclear technology while the west was fawning over their 'progressive' female led government of the time? Does the re-elevation of Rafshani ring any bells. Were we sent Ahmadinejad to make us all relieved when the good cop showed up? This is a set up, a cover for buying time, nothing more, nothing less.
Lots of reports, including from esteemed personage, Michael Ledeen, published this news as fact and if I remember correctly I said he was "dead or dying". My sources from inside Iran told me he was still breathing - at that time.
In any event, Khamenei is physcially not well. Suffering from "influenza" according to Islamic regime sources but in fact fighting cancer of the colon.
His survival in power also rests on those around him, his entourage, who act on his behalf. Khomeini had beed dead for some time before the regime admitted it.
Right now, every senior cleric is either allying himself with one of a bunch of small groups of "warring" ayatollahs or simply "singing his own song". Out of tune or not.
This power struggle to fill Khamenei's shoes also includes a divided attitude among the IRGC, who are in positions of power because of Ahmadi-Nejad but do not all share his suicidal Hojatieh views of creating enough death and destruction globally to ensure the 12th Imam will return.
Martyrdom is good for the lower level ranks but higher ups do not wish to find paradise this way and the looming threat of an attack from the West is giving them second thoughts. And weakening or changing allegiances.
BREAKING NEWS: fearful of what may result from a Western attack, the regime continues to disarm the regular armed forces inside Iran (as opposed to the Pasdaran, Qhods and Basiji forces) and has begun a TV and radio campaign - overseas - to discredit former senior armed focres generals who are mostly overseas and to renew strong attacks on the Monarchy and all people linked to it.
They are also ratcheting up attacks to discredit everyone linked to the former Shah through infiltrators they have in place.

Additonally, the visit to Khamenei may never have taken place and was simply added as part of the "normal protocol" in reproting the story to provide standing for everything. Even if Bandar never saw Khamenei, he is not going to deny the reports that he did.

poetic license? This is supposedly a report of facts, is it not?
If he really met with Kameinie, then that would indicate that he was alive and fairly well a week ago. That's very important in lieu of everyone saying he's dead. It stood out to me and should be of interest to others.
If he didn't really meet with Kameinie but the reporter is saying he did, then how many other details of the report are made up?
I'm just trying to get to the facts.
