No one is buying it?

I like Harper's letter talk on the Kyoto Accords.

All Harper is doing is recereating his image like liberals do every 2 weeks or so, except that Harper cycles his "political image " every five years or so. Thew whaccko environmentalists and their dooms day scenarios will soon be a fixture of the past, just like their alcohol prohibiting predecessors in the USA. At least in those days Canadians had enough sense not to beat themselves over their own heads with bottles of Scotch.Canadian culture has obviously gone to the socialsit whacko dogs since then.

Harper is a good man. It will take a lot more than leaked historical correspondence to scandalize a great PM, and a true Canadian Patriot.

Liberal MP Mark Holland told the Canadian Press on Tuesday that the leaked letter shows that Harper isn't actually committed to climate change.

Except Kyoto has nothing to do with climate change and won't make a nickle's worth of difference even if all the reductions were met.

Even if, for the sake of argument, man-made global warming is indeed occurring, that would not make Kyoto anymore valid. It was a political attempt to suck power out of the U.S. and its allies under the auspices of environmental protection. If anything, it would have incrased greenhouse gases as companies moved to exempt countries where there no environmental regulations at all.

He says Kyoto requires that Canada make significant cuts in emissions, while countries like Russia, India and China face less of a burden.

It is a fact that Kyoto would require no cuts in India or China (as they are 3rd world nations), and would be very unlikely to require any cuts in Russia either (since Russia used to pollute more before its collapse).

Canadian Maurice Strong (of Oil-for-Food Scandal fame) was the prime mover behind Kyoto. Nothing further needs to be said.

Harper is a good man. God help him, he is in that socialist bastion! It is even worse there than here!

Its a socialist wealth transfer scheme. Which is precisely why the Left loves Kyoto.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper once called the Kyoto accord a "socialist scheme" designed to suck money out of rich countries, according to a letter leaked Tuesday by the Liberals.

He is correct.

Thanks for posting this.

Notice how the "free traders" use Kyoto to advance their agenda.

Canadians should enjoy their country while they "own" it. By the year 2020, it will be a Muslim country, building forces to invade the northern states of the U.S.

His comments come as public-opinion polls indicate the environment has become the number one issue among Canadians.

Well, that's easy enough to change... All that Canada needs to do is plunge into Kyoto as enthusiastically as the Liberals have urged - then, soon enough, the economy will replace the environment as the number one issue among Canadians...

P.M. Harper is exactly right here. Kyoto is socialistic world government by another name and nothing but. I wish Pres. Bush would have said this back in January 2001 as he should have.

Global warming is NOT being caused by humans. It's only a consensus by those who wish to use it to manipulate the masses in to voting for an some democrat idiot. Global warming is a cyclical occurrence.

If our country ever adopts legislative policy that embodies language supportive of the eco-nuts views, I'll personally start burning coal in my back yard just to keep the air permeated with progress.

Unfortunnately, democracies are run more by propaganda then by legislators.

Promote, then, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. In proportion as the structure of Government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened.
- WASHINGTON: Farewell Address.

"In our system, the press has the role of..." Generations of journalists spoke confident sentences like that. The press is a vital check on power. It's quasi-Constitutional. Bush, head of government, rejects this idea. That theory has gone down, he says. And you guys don't have that kind of muscle anymore". I can't agree with Bush on this one. If he were right he'd have an 80% approval rating.

From its earliest days, the government has feared the power of an unchecked press. As World War II photographer Jimmy Hare said, "Photographs seem to be the only thing the War department is really afraid of (Neuman, 82)" -- and the visceral and ubiquitous nature of television, once it was a significant component in war journalism, was no different.

America can no longer fight a war of attrition. It can no longer censor propaganda that will destroy the will of the people to fight. During the war, the OWI was also responsible for creating propaganda to rally the homefront around the fighting. "

"Kyoto is essentially a socialist scheme to suck money out of wealth-producing nations," Harper's letter reads.
