Police are investigating a shooting in University City involving a University of Pennsylvania student and students from Drexel University.
Authorities said the University of Penn student fired 15 shots into an apartment occupied by Drexel students on 44th Street near Pine.
Police said the shooting all stemmed from an argument between a Penn student and a Drexel student about their backgrounds. The Penn student, who is Korean, was arguing with the Drexel student, who is Indian, over their backgrounds, police said.
"There's some indication that he was accusing him of being from another country, possibly being spies and thats what he wanted to confront him about," said Lt. Walker.
According to police, the second-year University of Pennsylvania Law student shot at his neighbor's front door. The 9mm gun shot out the locks on the door.

My son attended Drexel in his freshman year on an academic/lacrosse scholarship. He had had enough of the city after one year and transferred to a university in the "burbs"!

So much for the $160k/year job he would have gotten upon graduation.
Move Member?
You used to be "Steely Tom Africa"?
Just more ammunition for Mayor Street & Guv Rendell's gun-grabbing plan to end violence in the Keystone State by banning guns in cities.
You got it!

Talk about blowing your future away... You'd think a law school student would be a little more risk averse than that.
That's probably one law student we should be glad will never practice law here.
No, that was 63rd and Osage, if I recall correctly. Osage is one block behind where I lived. The high school Bill Cosby attended was visible out my bedroom window.
Beyond that, I don't feel comfortable characterizing the ethnic... umm.. situation of the neighborhood back then... 1980 through 1984. Move happened, I believe, in 1985. So did Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone, and, consequently, Dianne Feinstein. But Ronnie was in the WH, Iran-Contra and the Challenger accident handn't happened yet. The economy was humpin' and life was, on the whole good. If lonely.
By the way, Doc, I was just thinking about you last weekend. That terrific story you told me in private... you know... "put the mask on." Still tickles me today.

Hey man, don't be high and mighty...do you watch Entertainment Tonight? That's American culture. Do you watch MTV? That's the future of American Culture....
Yeah, and the probably $150k plus interest he'd have to pay back would balance it out.
Based on the article, I'd be leaning toward a case of paranoid schizophrenia.
Are "Hate Crime" charges going to get filed? If a "angry white male" was involved as the shooter you can rest assured those charges would be screamed by the MSM.

Don't forget the "he'd have to" should be "he still has to"--at least most of it.
Sectarian violence in univerity city. No end in sight!
I was right there yesterday, on Chancellor St.
