Obviously this commitment to not committing to open-ended commitments does not apply to healthcare for illegals.... welfare for illegals ... US citizens picking up the cost of crimes by illegals ...

We have an open-ended commitment to these open-ended commitments.

Open ended commitments to things like, oh, allies .... and fixed principles .... and core values ... are, like, so "yesterday".

Ya gotta admit, he is one articulate, clean and good-looking candidate.

I heard he was part black too.

It does not apply to the U.S troop presence in Korea. Why don't the Democrats advocate ending that one - or our presence in Europe? It makes a lot more sense to end our open-ended commitments there than in Iraq. Then again logic and consistency has never been a strong suit of the Democrats. Oh and let's not forget all their domestic open-ended commitments. Those can stay in place til the end of the world. But we gotta high-tail it out of Iraq over a few thousand deaths!

Yeah but that part abandoned him when he was a child.

The enemy will target another dozen innocent Iraqis for death every time one of these hack politicians makes a statement like this.

This jerk dosnt know any more about Iraq than I do.

He needs to stop going around the county stirring Shiite and go back to Washington DC and learn how to be a Senator.

The Democrats are pushing this rookie like it was the second coming. He may have the advantage of looking at the Muslim perspective, but we already know how they feel.

"...our open-ended commitment must come to a close..."

Democrat SOS Acheson said approximately the same thing in regard to South Korea, a few years after WWII. According to a PBS web page...,

In January 1950, U.S. Secretary of State Dean Acheson haddelivered a speech in which he said South Korea and Taiwan were not part of the American "defensive perimeter," which seemed to indicate the U.S. would keep out of a Korean conflict.

According to Global security web pages on the Korean war

Guerrilla fighting in the south and clashes between southern and northern forces along the 38th parallel intensified during 1948-50. Although it continued to provide modest military aid to the south, the U.S. withdrew its occupation forces, leaving behind a 500-man Military Advisory Group by June 1949.

Emboldened by the exclusion of South Korea from the American defense line in the Pacific zone in the so-called Acheson Declaration, Kim Il-sung decided to launch an outright invasion of the South

What were the results of Acheson's statement?..

1.The North Korean army invaded South Korea in 1950.
2. Truman gave a press conference, at the end of June, 1950) in which he said he was sending Americans to fight a "police action" in Korea, against "bandits."
3. 30,000 Americans died in 30 months, from fighting for Korea's freedom before Truman stepped down as president.

Why don't we push for an end to our open-ended commitment in the Balkans, I mean we have wasted billions and resources on something that Europeans would and continue to refuse to do themselves. Kosovo is a poster child for mass corruption and the Balkans under the UN has become a terrorist training grounds as the Madrid Bombing has shown, KKKlinton left Bush with that mess and now it is time to pull the plug on it, Bosnia and Kosovo are nothing more than the new Gaza Strip and West Bank!

Senator Obanna is the right candidate for Dems. He runs to the left of Senator Clinton. Clinton has a conservative voting rating of 9. Obanna's is 8.

Somewhere Karl Marx is smiling.

But we gotta high-tail it out of Iraq over a few thousand deaths!

If Democratic president Truman pulled our troops out of Korea after 3,000 deaths in 1950, we would have fought there for only 5 weeks and South Korea would be non-existent.

Since the Dems approved of Truman's interceding in a "civil war" in Korea, why can't they approve of Bush's interceding in a "civil war" in Iraq?

Duncan Hunter had a great quip about Obama the other day.

This isn't exact, but it's close

"Obama could write his third book on what he DOESEN'Tknow about millitay operations."

Our troops should be returning from Germany, Italy and Japan real soon.

Easy for Obama to talk about ending any commitment to any ally or foreign policy goal since he never made any commitment to their freedom.

Yeah, a real humanitarian and visionary.
