The base of the GOP simply will not support an openly liberal candidate on social issues.

I'm not sure how you define 'viable', but there are certainly candidates I can support, i.e. Duncan Hunter. Also, it's a long time until the Presidential election. You seem kind of in a hurry to write everyone else off. Why?
Hillary's problem is that 98% of Americans do know who she is; Rudy's problem is that 98% of Republicans know who he is.
