This is an American Soldier. We call him Joe. Joe wants to win in Al Anbar,
but it seems like other people don't share that idea.
How can Joe win in Al Anbar? By fighting the insurgents?
This is the first slide in a presentation created by Capt. Travis Patriquin. It is clear and to the point, and I urge everyone to view it via the link. I find it extremely refreshing: he says here's the deal, here's what's wrong, and here's how you fix it.
According to background I've read, he was an incredibly gifted communicator, and I urge everyone to check out all the background links at Michelle Malkin's blog post here, and Mary Katharine Ham's blog post here. He spoke many languages, including various dialects of Arabic, and this gave him the ability to communicate with ordinary Iraqis in a special way.
Here are some things I've learned about him:
He started with Farsi so he could ""talk to the Durka man when we take Iran down next"
That's the spirit we need in wartime!
He realized the importance of having a moustache in Iraq
Hey not just in Iraq! A moustache is the ultimate symbol of manhood!
I can't stand that men like this are lost and the cowardly anarchists march around Washington like a bunch of freaks....
