A little while ago CNN showed a clip of McCain from his appearance on Stephy's show this morning.

I didn't watch him, so I don't know how his whole interview was...but the clip that Wolfie showed had McCain going on and on about what a failure Iraq has been and how much Bush Admin screwed up.

I don't like that....it does NO ONE in the GOP party any good to try to go BACK and blame the "way the war was waged" in order to get brownie points...because the fact is, Pres. Bush hasn't fired a bullet or lead a platoon into a fight...the military has.

I want someone that is POSITIVE and will say that what is, is...and what will be, will be BETTER in Iraq, than what was there for decades...THANKS to our wonderful military.

Those are all excellent points, and I believe it was on the Wall Street Journal Show last night that one of the panel Members pointed out that everyone knew about Valerie Plame Wilson especially Mrs. Andrea Greenspan who has Timmah as her Boss. Timmah knows what Andrea knows and he has been obscuscating and fibbing all along. It is certainly an interesting point how so many NBC Reporters got so involved in all this intrigue. Sounds like RICO to me, and look who the Big man in charge was Timmah Buffalo Butt. I cannot wait to see them all turn on each other which looks like it may already be starting. They are losing money big time, cutting secondary staff, moving Bureau Offices way out of Town and doubling up on the workload, and best of all Furloughing Journalists. There will be fistfights in the Newsrooms any day I hope, after all it is dog eat dog, and survival of the fittest.

George Allen was a solid Conservative.

I'll agree with you 100%... the loss of Allen & Santorum has been devastating.

I just checked the front page of my Sunday paper..the Fort Worth Star Telegram....and the top story (besides Michael Irvin getting into the Football Hall of Fame)...

is this headline (byline McClatchyNewspapers)

TROOPS SEE LITTLE HOPE FOR SUCCESS

Of course if you read further down the article the military leaders don't agree with that...and that isn't exactly what the troops are saying...however the headline is what "Average American" reads.

I would still like to find a solid conservative who can bend to the middle occasionally...

There can not be great leaders in the absence of themes which run through the Left, Right, and Center of the American consciousness. When these themes are present, greatness is possible. When they are absent, it's all bickering and name calling; and the Rats have the advantage there. Even with the unprecedented threat we face today, a critical mass of the country has still not been lead to the recognition that Islamo-terrorism and leaking borders are the threads that must be woven into the great theme of this era.

Since World War II, Ronald Reagan has demonstrated the best ability to identify and weave meaningful threads into political gold. President Bush, no matter how much we respect him for seeing the raw materials, has yet to show the ability to fashion themes into consensus. I'm backing Hunter because I believe that he recognizes the areas needing priority; however, I seriously doubt that he would fare any better in the business of building a broad enough base.

A facilitator of Reagan's accomplishment is not easy to find. If Giuliani will stop stepping all over the political map and make some serious commitments regarding guns, judges, and states' rights- he might be our best bet. I hope that Hunter can put as much heat on Rudy as possible in these matters; I intend to assist Duncan in this approach in any way that I can.

Go Bears! Have a great Superbowl Sunday, everyone.

Us Senate "Populist" (Should Read Socialist) Cacus.

Webb, VA, Tester, MT, Brown OH and Dorgan ND. So the 3 new Democrat Senators who ran as Reagan Clones and won in Red states have morphed into Socialists with in 30 days of getting to DC

Did you see Fred Barnes talking about Al Franken getting into the Senate Race? Unreal, even for an inside the Beltway guy like Fred. Sometimes I think Fred encourages these fools just to keep his job. You are supposed to be crazy and corrupt AFTER you run for Senate, and have been in a few Years. He thinks it is a smart move because Coleman's approval numbers are under 50 percent, and if he loses he could always make a lot of Money by writing a book about his run. Fred, Fred, Freddie the Beetle Bomb, what has happened to you? You work at Fox have you never talked to Brian or E.D. or even Colmes about Franken's propensity for violence and bullyish behavior even with Rats like Colmes?

Who was it that advanced the theory that there are really only 100 people in the world?

I don't know. Am I real, or just a computer program answering you?

Re Webb and the Populist/Socialist Caucus, I Googled this:

"Virgina Sen. Jim Webb (D) yesterday told a gathering at the Economic Policy Institute that there's an informal populist caucus forming in the Senate whereby Sens. Webb, Tester (MT), Brown (OH), Sanders (VT) and Dorgan are meeting regularly to figure out legislative strategies to address income inequality."

Going for my email connection to what now passes for representation in the Senate for Montana as soon as I'm done posting this.

Or maybe I'll just stop wasting time and electrons and go Google the procedures for initiating a recall election.

(Walking away, spitting on the ground.)

There is a difference between being passionate and fighting for your values and beliefs and being arrogantly certain that every thing in politics should be ordered to what you personally want and then throwing a mindless temper tantrum when you do not get only what YOU want.

NO one gets 100% of what they want out of life. The difference between being an adult and being a child is an Adult understands the need to compromise when they must in order to get some progress towards their goals rather the mindlessly fighting for a Utopian 100 perfection rather that results in them getting NOTHING they want.

I suspect for most 100%ers they are not really interested in outcomes merely take great joy in the fight. They want a dramatic emotional high from a good fight and could care less what happens in reality.

Sorry Politics is not a sporting event. Far too many Americans have simply gotten so emotional hung up in "winning at all costs" in politics that they forget this is vastly more serious then some sports event.

...but why on earth does the Republican Leadership think that McCain is better than Newt?

I just checked-in and have been following this interesting discussion. There have been some thoughtful, plausible and well-articulated points raised. My take on this is simpler, and far more cynical, derived as it is from observing that "Republican Leadership" in action (or was that inaction) over the past few years:

The "Republican Leadership" prefers McCain because if, by some miracle, McCain were to win, well that would be "just great", and it'll be "business as usual" in Washington, DC. However, if Hillary (or whoever) wins, it'll be "too bad", or maybe even a "damn shame", but still "business as usual" in DC.

But if Newt Gingrich, or any other candidate who is talking about and trying to focus the attention of the American people on some of the ACTUAL existential threats we face, rather than the fuzzy, fake, contrived distractions, such as global warming or health care, etc., which the Establishment is desperately hyping, if such a candidate were to actually win, then "business as usual" would no longer be possible.

In such a scenario, the very real threats Gingrich (and Duncan Hunter and others) are trying to talk about would have to be dealt with, and THAT is the last thing either the "Republican Leadership" or the "Democrat Leadership" want.

Coleman's approval numbers are under 50%? Where did Freddy pull that factoid out. Not at all true. Coleman even gets favorable ratings from 43% of Democrats. Favorable R 75%/D43% and I 51% according to the latest Survey USA Rankings

Duncan Hunter would be a great Candidate if he was running in a Conservative District. He has to run in the entire Country, therefore he has to pick up a good portion of the Squishy Middle, and IMHO he will not. It is still early, but is also getting late. To win the Presidency you have to have your teams already out there in place in the most crucial states at least a Year in advance. That eliminates a lot of candidates right off the bat. Duncan Hunter can help the cause, and he can beat up the Rats and the Rat candidates like Hillary, but we have to be honest and pragmatic. Duncan Hunter may be closer than anyone else to my thinking on issues, but it matters not, we need someone that can win more than 50 percent of the Vote. We cannot afford to lose in 2008, and Duncan Hunter is too easy for his Rivals to beat up let alone the rotten DBM biased Pukes. Every time I see Duncan Hunter I think of Joe Mannix from 1974 or thereabouts. I have no idea why.

I agree, and it shows other things you and I have agreed on in the past. Much of the Bush disapproval is NOT because of what he's done but a desire for him to do more. I'm also sure much of the opposition to Bush is Democrats and media created and not a fact.

People forget, President Bush has endured six years of constant harassment and damnation by both. Bush & Co figured people would see through it all but I think there are many uninformed voters who have fallen for the propaganda because it's been so repetitious without adequate response or defense.

SO what are YOU willing to compromise, Johnnie?

are you williing to compromise the foundation of America?

How do you support the troops and yet not stand strong in demanding border security?

I mean their deaths, their life without limbs, and months of suffering, watching their friends die- ALL of it is futile if we simply allow terrorists to waltz across the border.

I believe the troops are there to fight for our security and safety. And yet we cannot expect our Congress and President to secure the border and enforce the laws? You cannot sacrafice THAT? They sacrafice it ALL, and you cannot sacrafice what?

Where do we lose to stand SOLID on enforcing the borders Johnnie? WHERE? MOST Americans want the border enforced..not just us little immature kids throwing temper tantrums that call ourselves conservatives....

This is where you calling anyone else a 100%'er is the pure epitome of hypocrisy.

Not to mention that not once did I attack YOU and call you immature or any other name... You are acting like a damn Lib when you stoop to that level as I make points on the facts, the issues, and ask honest and sincere questions about our so-called principles...

You may think your harsh rhetoric against the folks on "YOUR SIDE" is cute and you might sit back high-fiving yourself for such pungent little posts....but if you take the time to actually read my posts, and YOUR responses, you just might get a clue as to which one of us truly is throwing a temper tantrum and acting childish and immature.
