The short version:

Amnesty was snuck in as an attachment to the minimum wage bill.

Whaaaaaaaaat? Is that statement on the level (because the action sure wasn't)?

(consideration: CR S897-898; text: CR S898) To preserve and protect Social Security benefits of American workers, including those making minimum wage, and to help ensure greater Congressional oversight of the Social Security system by requiring that both Houses of Congress approve a totalization agreement before the agreement, giving foreign workers Social Security benefits, can go into effect.

Under the current totalization agreement, only the President needs to sign it for it to go into effect. Congressional approval is not required.

===

(consideration: CR S1173-1179; text: CR S1173-1174) To prohibit employers who unlawfully employ aliens from receiving government contracts.

Sounds good, but is it enforceable?

Bush will try to push amnesty through in every bill passing the Senate from now until December 31, 2008.

S.187 is a Senate Bill by Arlen Specter to Undercut our ability to track terrorists.

S.187 Title: A bill to provide sufficient resources to permit electronic surveillance of United States persons for foreign intelligence purposes to be conducted pursuant to individualized court-issued orders for calls originating in the United States, to provide additional resources to enhance oversight and streamline the procedures of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978, to ensure review of the Terrorist Surveillance Program by the United States Supreme Court, and for other purposes.

There are no amendments so far.

Maybe you were thinking of a different bill.

Check out the link; this is from the library of congress.

It's actual text (which is why it's so awful to read).

True.

More serious than a heart attack.

Our Sovereign nation was just given away by the Senate.

Has the House voted yet?

Maybe this will help:

The Senate Minimum Wage Bill passed on Thursday, including Amendment 187, which included everything below the double red broken line. Roy Beck says they were aware of it but were working quietly behind the scenes on parliamentary procedures to prevent a floor vote.

Rob Sanchez stumbled across this quite by chance, and notified Roy Beck, copying Norm Froman as well as myself.

((((((((( Amendment 187 is essentially McCain-Kennedy and was sent to the House as an amendment to the House bill. You can bet Nancy Pelosi won't let it gather dust on her desk--she'll ramrod it through at lightning speed. It may reach Jorge Boosh's desk by the end of the week. ))))))

We can tell our children and grandchildren that we lost our country while everyone was busy watching the 2007 Super Bowl.
