"Abortion
Borders
Guns
Gay Unions"
If we were to throw out all the social issues that hold the party together we would be nothing more than another libertarian party.

"Either way come Jan08, Rudy or the Hillary-beast will be telling us all to turn in our guns."
Nah, it will take them 6 months of pontificating to pass the "Fluffy bunny rabbit, protect the children and women, gun confiscation, chicken in every pot" bill.

"The term RINO is used and abused far too often, in my honest opinion."
But it perfect describes Rudy.
It doesn't matter what you want to call yourself. But if your chosen candidate supports such liberal positions as massive gun control, illegal immigration, CFR, partial birth abortion, etc etc etc, then why even bother calling yourself a conservative, or denying that you're a liberal? Because the person you want to put into office for 4 years certainly is a liberal with those stances.

Anyone can add these threads to the "BANGLIST" by entering "BANGLIST" as a new keyword just below the main body of the first post.

I don't know, if this is his only weakness, he can easily cut off worries by making a strong promise not to grab guns.He could.
He was offered the opportunity on national TV
He didn't
As you note this will be an easy one for him for non gunowners and the uninformed.

The Rat candidates are, I'd bet, to the left of him on EVERY issue. And again, they would do more about it. Name me one running in Republican primaries.

Suing gun manufacturers for gun deaths is like suing the car industry for hit-and-run driving deaths.Call John Edwards, you might get a finders fee.

How can a candidate jettison his past positions on issues so that he can be trusted if he adopts a new position? I don't have an answer to that. Anyone's positions can evolve. And they can change when representing a different constituency. Note post 151. On this issue, I believe Rudy embraces his former position.

Had I known that the Republicans' 2A plank had become so watered down in 2004, I never would have supported the GOP...The 2008 plank won't be so casually overlooked. Thanks so much for posting that. GWB would have signed the assault weapons ban, but Kerry would have pushed for it. This issue is impacted from the bottom up, it's important to focus on our representatives, and make our opinion know, to them, to the Republican Party.

Yeah, RIGHT! THAT'S what the glad-handing, country club, GOP leadership in CA told CA conservatives about "The Schwartz".
Look at him NOW. Clearly, conservatives got ROOKED!
Don't sit there thinking that the rest of the country's immune.

What I find most pathetic about that exchange is the number of times Hannity goes out an includes a rationalization for Rudy's abysmal track record in almost all of his "questions." There wasn't much depth. Long campaign, he'll get to address these issues.

If you think you and yours can nominate a real conservative, be my guest and try. Ain't gonna happen this time. No real conservative has the name rec or the star power except Gingrich, who probably won't run. And if nominated, Newt -- very unfortunately -- wouldn't win.
