I agree. Jr. was looking at the NY Senate seat that Shrieker was counting on. ALSO, Jr. had just published a not-so-nice piece on Shrieker in his magazine.
Another possibility for JFK, Jr. down the road was a Senate seat from New Jersey, if New York was blocked (by Hillary and Schumer). He had inherited a oceanfront cottage in New Jersey from his mother, and could have used that as a residence.
