According to the Martin County sheriff's office, Shawn Trotter, a history teacher at South Fork High School, was arrested Monday. He is still in jail on bail.
Trotter is charged with three counts of sexual activity with a minor.
Reports said the investigation began after two students told school officials they knew of a teacher who was having a sexual relationship with another student.
Authorities said the 16-year-old girl acknowledged to detectives she had sex with Trotter.
While teaching, Trotter also served as coach of the freshman boys basketball team during the 2006-2007 school year and coach of the freshmen girls basketball team during the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 school years.
School officials said Trotter is on paid administrative leave while the case is pending.

The FR custom is to assess guilt or innocence of female perps by how hot they look. The good looking ones are immediately judged innocent. Ergo, men are unqualified to judge this perp's guilt or innocence.
Last night I was helping my 6 year old son with his homework for 1st grade. He has assigned books that he has to read each night. Last nights book was called Sea Turtles. It starts out nice enough, but two pages into it, it says that sea turtles are dieing because people don't take care of them. Next page says that sometimes people throw plastic bags into the ocean and the sea turtles eat them and die (picture of dead bloated sea turtles on beach). Next page says that fishermen use big nets and sea turtles get caught in them and die (picture of dead sea turtle caught in net). After he finished reading it, I brought into the living room so my wife could check it out. When she got to the pictures of dead turtles and read the pages, she shook her head in disgust. I told her that maybe the school could get some movies from the state DMV about the dangers of careless driving for the kids to watch, or maybe a movie about what really happens when the little kid helps the nice man look for his lost puppy at the park. We might as well get them on the right path early.

Florida sure seems to have more than it's share of child sexual abusers. What gives?
Isn't it common practice to have females coach girls teams? specifically to avoid situations like this? It was when I was growing up. Must not be PC anymore.
If the teacher were female, and the student were male, I imagine we'd see some rather disgusting comments on this thread from some of the 'men' on FR.
Well let's hope it was the absolute best sex in the universe because he's going to pay one hell of a price for it.
