Even those clowns are more conservative that the commies who replaced them but you know very well I was referring to Burns, Allen, Talent and most disheartening of all, Santorum.

Just rescind the anchor baby laws,[Agree] cut off the welfare freebees,[agree] heavily fine illegal-hiring employers,[being done] and watch the exodus back acrosss the border.[Nope won't happen most are NOT here for welfare, to have a baby or any other reason than to work.]
Until there is the alternative of being able to earn a living in Mexico this route will be taken.

If there is another terrorist attack in the US, GOD FORBID, these terrorists would not have sneaked from the Southern borders with the help of Jose the Mexican. They would have been here for a while as sleeper cells, and they would have came here legally. They will be Hizballah terrorists who came to the US legally and live a normal life in Dearborn Michigan or Boston Massachusetts. They will be Hamas and Al Qaeda terrorists who entered the US legally and have been living an “American Style Life” in New Jersey and Brookline New York. They will be the Shia Lebanese terrorists or any other muslim terrorists who came to the US using their Canadian passports, or their Australian passports, or their German passports, or their Dutch passports, or their Danish passports, or their Swedish passports, or any other EU passport. Some of these terrorists can be permanent residents of the US (Green Card holders) or even naturalized US citizens. It is much easier and less suspicious for the terrorists to come to the US legally as I described above than counting on Alfonso the Coyote to smuggle them across the Mexican borders.

but they weren't REALLY guilty, so those felonies shouldn't count and they should get non-violent-offender treatment

No, that is what I believe. I don't think after reading about the case that they are a pair of rogue agents out thumping heads indiscriminately. I don't think that they are in the employ of the bad guys either, or Aldrete-Davila would have started talking about them trying to extort him.

Did they lie about the shooting? Appears they did. That's a serious issue. But cops hold back about things for reasons. As far as the violent felonies, I just don't buy it. Their version seems more believable to me: guy runs, appears to have something in his hands, they fire. Every cop I know has told me that when things like that happen, they have the right to "blow him out of his socks" -- direct quote. Even running away, if he's armed (because what happens if gets away and uses the gun on someone?). Some may not agree with that, but....that's what I've been told. Maybe state and case law changes that.

This much I can tell you. The border is not a neighborhood street with some bad guys. It's a war zone on an international border and that's no exaggeration. It's a mistake to rely on the BP alone. Armed troops should be there with orders to shoot first. Any sign of weakness will be interpreted by the other side as a license to open up and go all out. They can and they will.

Most people in your part of the woods will never know. I guess you have to be there to understand. It's a war, Chuck. They're terrorists too. That's all you can say about the narcos. They've probably beheaded more people in Mexico in the last 3 months than Al-Qaeda did in Iraq all last year.

And that's what kind of guy Aldrete-Davila is. And every BP agent knows it. And they know it when they see it: the van, the guy taking off, who knows who's behind him, backing him up, across the river with a sniper rifle....it's a war zone. People are on edge. They do crazy things.

True, President Reagan did grant amnesty to about three million illegals. We are currently dealing with four times the number (11-12 million) or more if some non-government estimates are credible.

It is probable that California's political shift from a middle of the road state with a real two party system to a liberal, reliably Democratic one was due to the voting influence of the newly naturalized Americans. A good example was the shift in 1998 of the Congressional seat then held by Bob Dornan and before him for decades by very conservative representatives to Loretta Sanchez, a liberal Democrat. It is worthy to note that when she ran for election, she dropped her husband's German surname to run using her Spanish maiden name. No doubt the district, which consisted of older areas of Orange County where, during the 1980s and 1990s, Hispanics replaced whites who had moved there in the years after World War II, had changed politically in part due to the newly enfranchised citizens.

It is a historical fact that immigrants, going back to the Scots-Irish two centuries ago, tend to support the party perceived as supporting the "little people." In the early days of the Republic, the Scots-Irish favored the Democrats, who favored small farmers and opposed tariffs and central banking. Their voting patterns helped overturn the power of the Federalists, who represented the New England shipping and manufacturing interests and the old line Tidewater planters, both of which groups dated to the original 17th Century English settlements. The issues have changed drastically, but not the tendency of immigrants to vote for the party of "da peepul" remains. There have been only a few exceptions: German and Dutch Americans, British Protestants who settled in the Northern states in the 19th Century, and Cuban Americans after 1960 being among them.

Consider also that immigrants, irrespective of where they come from, tend to have large families in the first two generations after arriving in America. The 12 million (or more) illegals, their anchor babies, and the next generation, if and when their votes come on line, will be predominately Democratic in their voting habits. Our nation will be in for generations of Democratic rule. Inasmuch as the Democrats are now essentially a socialist and aggressively secular humanist party, our nation will degenerate into an American version of a European social democracy at best, or a north of the border version of a Latin American narco-republic at worst.

Granting the current illegals the road to citizenship, whether instant or gradual, will transform this country as much, if not more, than the New Deal and World War II did. This issue transcends the guilt or innocence of Compean and Ramos, the integrity of Johnny Sutton and the Justice Department, and the judicial process.

This stinks to high heaven. These two good men are being offered up on the altar of globalism.

On a related front, the president is just begging for the democrats to send him an unrestricted immigration bill. He'll be tripping over himself running to his desk to sign it.

What king of a country am I living in???

The terrorist regimes and organizations will be so emboldened and so comforted if they see their ultimate enemy and destroyer President Bush being impeached.

As it stands, the illegals lobby and the illegals themselves have realized that Bush and his administration will do absolutely as little as possible to stop them so they come flooding across the border and support illegals. What's the difference. We are being invaded daily by thousands of illegals. Does that not require the "Commander in Chief" to do something about it? Should we stand around in fear of what Al Qaeda thinks while invaders get away with the fruits of Bush's malfeasance? Really. What recourse is there for us.

BTW I am not sure I really believe you when you say you are against open borders. I have been on these threads for years and it always seems as though you are defending the illegals. If I have you confused with someone else I am sorry.

We are at WAR. The impeachment that some people are calling for will greatly distract the Commander in Chief from fighting this war, and will embolden the enemy beyond belief and cause us to lose this most important war, a war where we are fighting for our freedom and our way of life. Thus everyone who calls for impeachment of President Bush in this time of war is a TRAITOR, there is no other way to describe it.

By the way, I was never for open borders, I am for much tighter security of our borders. For the illegal immigrants who are already inside the US, I am for giving them a work permit that will be renewed every five year with a fee, force them to pay taxes, do not give them any welfare benefits, and do not ever give them a citizenship as a punishment for them breaking the laws.

Which of course would secure a Democrat Presidential victory in '08 and a congressional majority for the forseeable future. Could Bush and the GOP establishment be deluded enough to believe that the "compassion" he's shown to our Mexican neighbors on this issue will translate into tens of millions of these new voters registering to vote GOP (after the amnesty)?

Evidently.

Wait for a thank you note from Bin Laden, Zawahiri, Ahmadinajad, Bachar Al Assad, and a host of other prominent terrorists.

Sorry, the WOT doesn't excuse domestic malfeasance. Or did you buy the Dems' argument that the House ought to delay impeaching Clinton because he was busy bombing Iraq?

The huge difference that Clinton was not fighting a real war, President Bush is fighting the most important war since WW II. I cannot believe that one day, on this great forum, I would have seen people calling for impeaching the President in times of war.
