Group asks residents to turn in their guns (muslim initiative)

TUSCALOOSA | Members of a community action group are asking residents in west Tuscaloosa to turn in their guns.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, members of the recently formed All for One Tuscaloosa Standing Against Violence will gather at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School to receive guns that residents turn in, said the Rev. Clarence Sutton, president of the Tuscaloosa chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Sutton and Maurice Muhammad, minister of the Nation of Islam Study Group in Tuscaloosa, organized All for One Tuscaloosa last fall after several homicides shook area neighborhoods.

Twenty-six homicides were reported by law enforcement agencies in Tuscaloosa County 2006.

“We will give a small incentive for people to turn in their guns, with no questions asked," Sutton said. He said that some youths hesitate to turn in weapons because they are afraid that others will keep theirs. But even if only one resident turned in a gun, the effort would be meaningful, Sutton and Muhammad said.

“It’s more about bringing a spiritual rite of passage," said Muhammad, noting that the purpose of the call to disarm is partly to open a dialogue with community members and listen to their concerns.

A planning meeting to discuss goals of the community action group will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Benjamin-Barnes YMCA on 2939 18th St.

Sutton said that residents, municipal and county government officials and law enforcement officers attended a series of community meetings last fall and have offered help in the nonviolence effort. Muhammad said that more than 400 attended a series of meals that coalition hosted in October to encourage an end to violence.

He said the coalition wants to conduct outreach programs in schools, colleges and technical schools, especially at Shelton State Community College’s C.A. Fredd campus, to promote peaceful conflict resolution.

Another goal of the coalition is to teach job skills to young adults in west Tuscaloosa. Muhammad said a skills program recently started at the C.A. Fredd campus is promising.

A rally in October was followed by a series of dinners for residents to discuss their concerns. A third public awareness campaign, “21 Days of Awareness," was held to get more support for the community, Sutton said.

“We’re trying to cut down on the violence and help our community seek alternatives to it," he said.

It'd be a cold day in hell before I turn ANYTHING over to a muzzie just because they say so or they think it's a good idea.

Anything a muzzie thinks is a good idea, is a really BAD idea.

I've never seen such a blatant pile of bullsh!t in quite a while now.

Imho I'm rather of the opposite whereby arming oneself is spiritual rite of passage and it should be very much encouraged.

heck just look at these so-called Palestinians and the GUNS GALORE that they revel in - now for these mus-slimes to come to the west and begin to preach this anti-gun crap is pure lying & has evil plans behind it.

JUST DAMN. I graduated from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. I was there during the Iranian hostage crisis. We had Pakastani kids walking the campus wearing placards around their necks that said in LARGE ENGLISH LETTERS: I am not Iranian, I'm a Pakastani. Please Don't Hurt Me! Worked, too. OTOH, the few Iranian students just disappeared from campus.

If this dang initiative draws even ONE response, I'm going to be gravely disappointed in T-Town residents.

You wanna bet that those meals were demonically cursed with the intent to cause harm on the persons eating it?

OTOH, they'll probably just turn in the one most recently used to cap a LEO so the cops can dispose of the evidence....no questions asked. Such a DEAL!

Not bloody likely is all I gotta say.

What do you think we need them for anyway?

Any one who owns a gun but hands it over like that deserves to be a slave.

Notice how this makes it look like they're the ones in charge and they're interested in our welfare. They're going to *listen to our concerns*?! What for? How condescending!

Listen to this... (sound of a shotgun being engaged)

Islam’s “Plan” To Take Over the USA in 20 Years

3. Engage the American public in dialogs, discussions, debates in colleges, universities, public libraries, radio, TV, churches and mosques on the virtues of Islam. Proclaim how it is historically another religion like Judaism and Christianity with the same monotheistic faith.

An unarmed American is a defeated American.

Much more worrisome than "Moslem" participation with this, is participation by the "Southern Christian Leadership Conference." Ditto, "YMCA" as a surrender location for the Christian Dhimmis to report to.

Any organization that participates in any way with weapon-surrendering while we are a Nation At War needs, in the worst way, to be investigated as an organization suspected of having been infiltrated by the enemy or otherwise controlled by or in the thrall of the enemy.

It is astonishing to me, how sloppy our government has become, regarding homeland security issues, during Time of War. If we don't tighten this up, we're doomed. Shut the enemy down, especially the enemy operating on our own soil. That is such a fundamentally primal order of business, that to see it being entirely neglected by the federal government, can cause nothing but despair among any patriots with sufficient intelligence to breathe.

Isn't it a felony to bring or posses a gun on elementary school property?
