NEWS RELEASEU.S. ATTORNEY LETTER TO BLOOMBERG A SIGNIFICANT VICTORY, SAYS SAFBELLEVUE, WA A letter to the office of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg from the U.S. Department of Justice scolding the mayors infamous 2006 gun sting operation and advising that Bloombergs administration could face potential legal liabilities over such stings was called a significant victory against the Big Apple mayors anti-gun antics by the Second Amendment Foundation.Earlier this week, SAF was advised by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that the agency is investigating Bloombergs multi-state sting operation in order to determine if violations of Federal firearms laws have occurred. This new development, said SAF founder Alan M. Gottlieb, adds insult to injury for Bloomberg. We were adamant early on that this vigilante attack on gun dealers by Bloomberg and his posse of private investigators went way beyond his legal authority. Now it appears the Justice Department believes likewise. The New York Daily News reported Thursday that Michael Battle, director of the executive office for United States Attorneys at the Department of Justice, sent the letter warning Bloombergs administration that it could face potential legal liabilities if such sting operations continue. Battle also said the Justice Department will not be filing criminal charges against any of the 15 gun dealers targeted by Bloombergs 2006 lawsuits over alleged straw man purchases. Such operations lack proper law enforcement authority, Battles letter stated. Bloombergs house of cards is starting to crumble, Gottlieb stated. This underscores why SAF called upon Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to investigate Bloombergs rogue operation last August, and why we were delighted to learn earlier this week that ATF is conducting a thorough investigation of this enterprise. It is both sad and revealing, Gottlieb added, that more than 150 mayors around the country have been drawn into Bloombergs folly by joining his anti-gun mayors coalition. That groups launching pad was this bogus gun sting, which is now imploding. Every one of these city leaders is now linked to this misadventure. These mayors let their anti-gun bias, rather than good sense, lull them into joining and supporting what is becoming a colossal blunder, and now might be a good time to reconsider that participation.

MORE TOOLS TO COMBAT ANTI-GUN MAYORS In recent issues of the Grassroots Alert, we have been documenting anti-gun New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's coalition efforts to impose New York City-style gun laws across the nation. In addition to compiling an updated listing of the mayors that sign on to Bloomberg's efforts, NRA-ILA has added a new tool for you to fight against this blatantly anti-gun coalition.
By visiting www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=2533 not only will you find the list of mayors who are cahoots with Bloomberg, but also some sample letters for you to send to your mayor. One letter urges those mayors who have joined the anti-gun coalition, to remove themselves. The other sample letter encourages those mayors who have so far resisted pressure to join, to remain resolute. In addition to the sample letters, we have also posted a link to our "Tips for Communicating with Your Elected Officials" page that will provide you additional guidance when contacting your mayors.
Please visit www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=2533 today to take action yourself, and share this link with your family, friends, and fellow firearm owners and encourage them to do the same!
NRA-ILA Action Alerts are archived here: www.nraila.org/GrassrootsAlerts/read.aspx. You can also sign up on the NRA-ILA web site to have Action Alerts emailed to you.
Agreed. However, the fact that he is being investigated and the information is being made public puts it in Bloomberg's face. He s@*t all over the law abiding citizens who owned and operated these shops and I want his damn nose rubbed in it. Ditto for his so-called investigators.
Bloomberg is a coward and an enemy of the Constitution.
Bloomberg go $(&@%$&@*(*%@& yourself!!!
Let's hope it turns out that he already has. He and his investigators broke federal law by planning and then actually making straw purchases. If there's any justice, he'll be prosecuted.
