The federal government will not file criminal charges against any of the 15 out-of-state gun dealers accused by Mayor Bloomberg in a federal lawsuit of selling guns illegally, the Daily News has learned.
In a stern rebuke to the city's high-profile crusade against illegal guns, the feds warned the Bloomberg administration that it could face "potential legal liabilities" if it continues to conduct sting operations that fall within the jurisdiction of federal agents.

"Asked if the Bloomberg administration plans to stop conducting the sting operations, Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler said, "Not necessarily.""
What the hell does that mean?

Now Virginia authorities can start busting NYC cops coming down here and purchasing guns illegally.

Good. Now they need to exile Bloomberg. Seriously. From the US. We don't need people like him here.

Naw, they just don't like someone else intruding on their turf.
Kind of like the bumper sticker - "Don't steal - the government hates competition".

Double secret probation? In other words legal liabilities is breaking the law? Who knew!

You mean the Federal Government actually did something right? It can happen, IF the administration is mostly pro-gun, as is this one. Now, if an anti-gun zealot like Giuliani were president, these 15 dealers would probably be sitting in jail and denied bail.

Is this the same lawsuit Rudy started?

It means they don't really care about it because they are pursuing Civil cases against the dealers anyway.

You mean the Federal Government actually did something right? They got it half right. They appear to be shutting down his efforts, but they did not bring charges of conspiracy to violate federal firearms laws against Bloomberg and his employees.
If a private citizen and some friends tried this, the ATF would burn their houses down, shoot the doogs and stomp the cats to death.

There's an article in the NY Sun today:
Despite DOJ Decision, Gun Cases Will Go Forward. I don't remember if we can link or post content from the NY Sun, but you can access the article's link via the NRA-ILA's website:

Slap on the wrist. "Let's just pretend you didn't do that, and forget about the whole thing." No harm, no foul, right? There ought to be numerous criminal charges against Bloom and his cohorts for conspiring to violate, and for actually violating, federal firearms laws.

It's a start. But let's not drop our defenses... money barrels over a lot of good people with less $$$$.
The suits are civil, ATF&E is speaking criminal. A few dealers have shut down for lack of staying power, some others have signed off on Bloombug's 3-year NYC-managed care program (reporting all sales to Bloombug).
If all those dealers in the suit (and those threatened)could, as a class, maybe there'd be relief.
