Spending is growing faster and the deficit is growing bigger than under Gray Davis. The Governor who promised to cut up the credit cards has doubled our debt burden in just three years. And 72 hours after he took the oath of office, the Governor who promised never to raise taxes proposed the second biggest tax increase in Californias history to provide free health insurance to illegal aliens.

Still the best vote I cast in the last election.
Best vote, and most disappointing loss.
Proud to be one of those, and ready to do it again whenever Tom needs support.
Thank you!
Unfortunately, I've become very disillusioned with Tom. He has surrounded himself with people that are deeply involved with moneylaundering via several County Central Committees. Locally, I know the people involved don't have the smarts to do it on their own and it leads me to only one conclusion and it's a conclusion I don't like.
Go to the local DA with your accusations.
There's a line - I had to take a number.
lol.. maybe you can send an email instead..
I did a search on the La Times and Ventura Star, came up blank for news stories re: Strickland and McClintock and any ongoing investigations.
If you have any links shoot 'em to me. FR is a great place to post items on corruption. I'm always looking for it wherever it may be found.
The LA Times had a big article back in April regarding a different situation with the Stricklands - paying each other money out of campaign funds. What I'm talking about occurred in the most recent election and probably won't break for a few months.
I recall something early last year,, this was on the Ojai Post blog, it was called "Creative Financing"
The La times search feature sucks. didn't return diddly but the Ojai had a link to an La Times article, unfortunately the link goes to a Page Not Found.
Strickland Scandal?
http://www.ojaipost.com/2006/04/strickland_scandal.shtml
Interesting article in the LA Times regarding our Assemblywoman, Audra Strickland, and her husband, Tony Strickland, whom she replaced in the legislature in 2004. It seems the pair has been engaging in some creative financing...
Here is an excerpt:
A Republican candidate for state controller and his legislator wife have funneled campaign money into each other's consulting firms, in effect boosting their income through political donations, campaign finance reports show.
Over a little more than five years, Tony Strickland and his wife, Audra, who replaced him as a member of the state Assembly, paid more than $138,000 raised by their supporters to businesses owned by them and a staffer living in their Moorpark home. An additional $20,000 in campaign money was deposited into a nonprofit organization run by Tony Strickland.

One would hope that our elected leaders would hold themselves to a higher standard, and avoid anything that looks like a potential conflict of interest, whether it is or not. While the article does say that an investigation revealed no wrongdoing on the part of the Stricklands, my hopes are too high, obviously.

Audra Strickland a poster child for corruption. Hiring each other, Tony and Audra with campaign funds.
Lets not forget taking 26,600 from State Republicans to give to her husbands group. The California Club for Growth. Only that money was then used by DMH printing in Irvine to send attack mailers against Nicole Parra in the Central Valley (all a violation of proposition 34's rules on independent expenditures). One day the FPPC and good ole boy D.A. Totten might actually slam the two shysters over it... (check CALACCESS)

Debby, thanks for offering your POV. The elections are just around the corner!

Does this have anything to do with the tease I heard on the local Sacramento TV channel where they said something about campaign treasurers embezzling campaign funds? I don't have any reason to believe it is, but was just wondering... I wasn't able to watch the story whenever they finally got around to it...
not sure.
