We need someone who can get elected first and foremost. We have millions of people who "think right," and none of 'em get past the primary. Let's not be so ridiculous that we lose all perspective of what it takes to win an election in the U.S., especially a presidential election.
I got a real lesson in this with a friend running for the OHIO legislature, who got creamed. "Right" positions aren't even close to being enough.
