Indeed
Weather is not climate.
But, I had to listen to enough people last summer saying "Boy its really hot today, and some folks don't believe in global warming", I guess I can hear the other side as well!
"Global warming" is not a prediction that every spot on the globe is going to get steadily warmer each day. It is a theory about climate, not weather.
If, in fact, the climate as a whole is getting warmer, one of the short term effects will be colder weather in North America and Europe, as polar ice melts, drifts into the North Atlantic, and cools the neighboring continents.
the boston globe has recently been experiencing global warming
Normal temps or sea levals or ice thickness is all relative on an ancient ever evolving planet...
Which begs another question...Why is it that plants and animals must truly evolve without human intervention but not the planet itself...Hmmmm
Yesterday I read a libtard blog about people killed in Florida by the "freak" tornadoes caused by global warming. I responded by asking why he doesn't mention people killed by the cold across the midwest. My question didn't last long before he yanked it but it did spark a lot of similar comments and the idiot ended up yanking the whole blog.
"Ice Age 07: Politically Incorrect Weather"
This actually really funny when you think about it. Not funny when you think about the coming heating bills.
The global warming hysteria has been at it's height and we get the big long blast of cold air.
Combined with the washout of a hurricane season (what about the 15 hurricane predication that was scaring everyone a year ago?)
So we have no hurricanes and a really cold winter. Won't make much of a dent in the hysteria; to much global warming grant money out there and to much anti-western, anti-capitalism hate.
It's no longer called "snow". It's "global warming debris".
It cold.
President Bush better get FEMA up there quick. This is another Katrina in the making.
Well: Maybe not, Upstate New York is mostly White, so Jesse wont complain ,and then again the people up there can probably take care of themselves, unlike New Orleans.
The unwillingness of the IPCC and the UN to use the normally expected qualifiers for the research that they are supposedly reporting and the their need to publicize alarmist scenarios call into question the role of the UN as a manager or driver of science.
They have oversold global warming and fewer and fewer people are listening. They have overplayed their hand as expected.
We are freezing our butts off up here in southern Wisconsin...I can only imagine what the northern half of our state is going through.
It's going on a week straight now that we've been below zero. In real temps; none of that "Wind Chill" cr@p.
We might make it into the 20's over the weekend. I'll be wearing shorts, LOL!
I think the globe cooled temporarily. Then it became really hot around Christmas. In Minneapolis we are now (post the hot house Christmas) experiencing a cold snap to rival the last one of this length dating back to the 1930's.
If Gore would just come to Minneapolis and give a speech, I think we could break this cold snap. Come to think of it, wasn't he in the neighborhood around Christmas?
"Oh, pardon my ignorance. Global warming, portrayed by internet inventor Al Gore and some really smart people at the UN as the biggest crisis in world history, is now about climate change. So it can get really cold, and that also means its warming. And if you dont understand that logic, you probably didnt go to the right school."
I remember debating on-line in the mid-90s 'global warming'. I became a 'global warming' denier when I was told that 'global warming' could cause hotter temperatures and colder termperatures, more rain and less rain, etc.
At that point I realized that 'global warming' was fatally flawed as an hypothesis. A hypothesis must be capable of being proved right or wrong. But, if everything is consistent with the hypothesis, it can not be factually verified.
I was amazed that those arguing the correctness of global warming could not see this basic scientific problem. At that point I became a 'global warming' denier.
See here for the 1975 textbook warning about global cooling and the impending iceage.
