Your point being...?
"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

From your link

*********************AN EXCERPT ************************************

So one awkward question you can ask, when you’re forking out those extra taxes for climate change, is “Why is east Antarctica getting colder?” It makes no sense at all if carbon dioxide is driving global warming. While you’re at it, you might inquire whether Gordon Brown will give you a refund if it’s confirmed that global warming has stopped. The best measurements of global air temperatures come from American weather satellites, and they show wobbles but no overall change since 1999.

That levelling off is just what is expected by the chief rival hypothesis, which says that the sun drives climate changes more emphatically than greenhouse gases do. After becoming much more active during the 20th century, the sun now stands at a high but roughly level state of activity. Solar physicists warn of possible global cooling, should the sun revert to the lazier mood it was in during the Little Ice Age 300 years ago.

Climate history and related archeology give solid support to the solar hypothesis. The 20th-century episode, or Modern Warming, was just the latest in a long string of similar events produced by a hyperactive sun, of which the last was the Medieval Warming.

Okay. Better ;-).

(BTW: the quote in my #2 was intended to be funny, not a flame.)

Anyway, this scientist asks good questions, such as why Why sea-ice has diminished in the Arctic since 1978, [but] has grown by 8% in the Southern Ocean? This is how science works. It may well be that CO2 emissions are at least a contributing cause to global warming. The mechanism by which it occurs is well-understood. What is not known is if there are other factors as well.

Relative size of Sun, Jupiter, and Earth (that little speck in the lower right corner). Now, I wonder which object might have the most effect on climate?

Oregon Governor Seeks to Replace State Climatologist

Governor Ted Kulongoski (D-Oregon) says the state’s current climatologist must be replaced. “The man is an unbeliever in global warming. Having him in this position undermines my ability to convince the citizens that we must raise taxes, restrict travel, rein-in consumption and lead more regulated lives if we are to combat the global warming crisis.”

George Taylor, a professor at Oregon State University, has held the title of “State Climatologist” since being named to the post by the University in 1991. Taylor doesn’t dispute data that show global temperatures have increased over the past century. He maintains, though, that natural factors have played a bigger role than man in this trend.

Sen. Brad Avakian (D-Washington County) is sponsoring a bill that would allow the governor to appoint the state’s climatologist. “The notion that the state’s climatologist ought to be some ‘ivory tower’ academic is politically unacceptable,” Avakian said. “Global warming is too important an issue to be left to an unappointed scientist. We must have policy consistency. If the governor says there is global warming and man has caused it we can’t have some pointy-headed intellectual rocking the boat.”

What I would like to know is what exactly is the horrible downside of global warming? It seems to me that there are a lot of people in the Eastern half of the US that would like to see a little global warming right now. I bet that Florida is going to have a whole new crop of Democrats moving there this summer, probably enough to cure that housing downturn.

Glad you cleared that up. I was going to reply that obviously SOMEONE hasn't had their coffee this morning!

Good Article, Thanks!

That site is "semi-news" like Onion. The blurb about Dick Morris accidentally killing himself making toast is quite imaginative.

It's clear to me that Oregon needs to replace the Governor and leave the State Climatolgist where he is.

It's just not the Sun. It's the Earth in relation to the Sun. Both the orbit and tilt change, albeit slowly.

I think the best refutation of the made-man climate change is that Algor & Co. models can't recreate the climate change that has already happened from known measurements.

Basically, they won't include the effects of the Sun, let alone the cosmic ray hypothesis, either.

I like the idea of refunds for the inconvenience, poverty, and deaths they're going to cause, if they get their way.
