Now that the party of death has retaken control of Congress, battles over funding of embryonic stem cell research, chemical abortifacients, contraception, sex education, special privileges for homosexuals, and other such controversies will ensue over the next two years. The fight over an obscure international treaty could be just as important, if not more so, than these others even though few people have ever heard of CEDAW.
The pompously named CEDAW, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, sounds on its face not to be too bad, just clumsy and utopian. Yet it is a totalitarian piece of social engineering that aims to do everything from legalize abortion-on-demand worldwide to abolish Mother's Day (no joke).

"The Committee is concerned by the continuing prevalence of sex-role stereotypes and by the reintroduction of such symbols as a Mothers' Day and a Mothers' Award, which it sees as encouraging women's traditional roles."

Men are becoming more pussified and women butch. I liked it better when men were men and women were women. Not the other way around. I'm sick of this constant pile-on of traditional lifestyles. I love the card and flowers from my garden I used to get. One time my son actually didn't even bother to cut off the roots, but I didn't care, it was the thought that counted anyway. What's next, no Father's Day because all children will be test tube babies? This is so ridiculous.

Thats because if they leave it up the the people abortion will soon be much more strictly controlled.

Sometimes it seems that the would be global social engineers of the planet read "Brave New World" and find that hypothetical future to be desirable -- when normal people are horrified by Huxley's vision.

My hubby considers me a tough broad but, he and I both know I'm a woman and a mother. When we were raising teenagers, if you weren't tough they'd chew you up and spit you out.
I can be both tough and demure, most women can. It's knowing when to employ what works best that's the secret to a happy marriage and good kids.
The libs and dims can jump off a bridge for all I care.

Its time to get Senate Republicans to hold the line again CEDAW. It needs 67 votes to be ratified. Let's deny the Democrats the chance to advance the Culture Of Death.

This can't pass without bipartisan support...and unfortunately, I don't see either party as disliking Nanny Statism.

"It needs 67 votes to be ratified." I think quite enough in our government has been RATified, thank you very much.

This is a United Nations treaty signed by Jimmy Carter. It has not been ratified by Congress as of this date. It does far more damage than to remove "Mothers Day".
