NEW YORK -- New York City will get its first public school dedicated to Arabic language and culture in September.
Officials say that half of its classes will eventually be taught in Arabic.
The Khalil Gibran International Academy is among 40 new schools that the Department of Education is opening next academic year.
School officials say they are eager to recruit New Yorkers from a diverse background to the school -- not just those with Arabic backgrounds.
The school is named after a Lebanese poet and philosopher. It will eventually serve 500 to 600 students, all of them sixth graders.

Congratulations to the Department of Education. Our tax dollars being used for bilingual education...in Arabic. And some would like to promote the former mayor of this place to President.

I understand that "The Khalil Gibran Bomb Making and beheading Academy" was initially disapproved. I bet Barrack will be an honorary alumnus.

New York City declines into a new ring in Hell.
These people are nuts.
When are they going to start the first Italian school? Ah, let's see, how about Enrico Fermi Middle School?
Now THAT would make some sense.

Have you ever asked yourself why "professional educators" are always appeasing those who would Balkanize our society instead of supporting ideas and policies that would strengthen our common bonds?

so as schools are now putting halal prepared meat on the lunch menu so as not to offend muzzies, so the muzzies will have NON-halal meat on the menu for non-arabic students (all in the interest of diversity and tolerance)..right?? right??

On the other hand, it will be a great place for the anti-terror squad of the NYPD to recruit informants. If we're going to fight Islamofascism we need some Americans who speak and read Arabic. The choice of the name hardly suggests that this is going to be a pro-jihad institution. (And you can be sure it will be closely watched by lots of people to make sure it isn't.)

Just who the hell had this idea? And how did they get the money to pay for it? It is madness! If Bloomberg had any sense - an iffy proposition I know - he'd step in and stop this!
