OT: Donna Jean Godchaux did a pretty good job of making the Dead sound bad.

As for the Dixie Chicks? They better enjoy their 15 minutes of fame. The left will find soon a new chew toy and they'll be lucky to get a gig at a Holiday Inn bar. How "brave" and "cutting edge" to give them these awards now that the MSM has worked the country into opposing the war and driving Bush's popularity down into the cellar.

Brave would have been to award them two years ago.

Agree on the slow, but sure decline of this industry.

What many forget is this is "escape time" for all of us and just fills a temporary piece of our lives.

We don't take guidance from morons............

Also interesting that most performers can't string together a coherent sentance that hasn't been scripted in advance.

MTV is trying to support them since the world of country dumped them. But they just don't fit in no matter how hard they are promoted. CMT plays them a lot, but the fans are tuning them off also. Both channels are having to lay people off. (250 or so)

The Dixie Chicks cashed in on their alleged demonization. I wonder how many of those competing against them for awards believe that they were screwed because of some misdirected idea by the voters that they could use them to slam the Bush Administration. The Dixie Chicks got cold feet and did not use their moments on stage to repeat their mistake. They showed what cowards they really are.

If it weren't for the GOOD OLD music, like Joe Walsh, Van Halen, Haggar, Etc,,, the industry would totally collapse.

The OLD stuff is still outselling the new garbage being spawned. And it is the younger generation who is buying the GOOD OLD stuff.

Yeah,it's like a pro football player. If nobody pays to watch you throw the ball, then you're useless. same with the Chix. They can play all they want but less people are buying.

In reality even the Dixie chicks know why they received these awards. Even they cannot fool themselves into believing talent had anything to do with it.

They realise it was a political statement and not anything they did that got them selected.

They may try to bluff it out,but their fans have already voted with their pocketbooks and laid waste to any theory that the Grammy's is anything more than a big night for patting liberals on the back.

Check out Coops dvd live in Montreaux concert. He actually puts some conservative jabs in the music.

Like the new Hollywood elite, they believe that the public looks to them for moral guidance. Which is probably why these "Award" ceremonies are so wrought with political rhetoric.

They also promote the most controversial/ideological media. They somehow believe that this will effect our own personal ideology in the process.

Although, in some cases where the younger generation are concerned, it may be working.

I do know that Maines went to a very prestigious music school in Boston -- The Berklee College of Music. No relation to Bezerkeley, California. It is a very tough school to get into -- not academically, mind you. My sister got accepted there and it was a big deal for her. But it certainly isn't a liberal arts education school. They do take non-music classes, but the focus is on music. It is a very untraditional school in a very liberal city.

Donna Jean--so true.

Chix--i am a big fan of acoustic/bluegrass/country, and i never bought or got into the chix before or after this whole mess. that "earl" song just highlighted the fact that the singer had a big f-ing mouth, and i'm not a fan of that. i find the three of em pretty creepy looking, and def more geared towards pop than truly making music. sort of if you took dolly parton, took away all her charm and manners, divided her into three, stuffed one of the pieces full of hamburgers, and told them to do for bluegrass what kiss did for rock and roll. make it a total joke.

Mickey Hart really should be giving advice on what america wants. I for one think that the "whacked elitist hollywood crowd" is over paid, and over rated. They would be NOTHING without those who buy their music and attend their concerts.

When the Dixie Chicks can make an album as timeless as "Kind Of Blue" by Miles Davis, I MIGHT be inclined to acknowledge them......meanwhile they're nothing but three loudmouth hillbilly chicks....

Key word is......... she attended Berklee. She left after one semester. She did not graduate from any college. She also attended South Plains College, 30 miles west of Lubbock, her home town. She thinks she is way tooooo good to admit to attending there. We dispise her here!

Someone also pointed out that the voting method that determined the awards were not based on sales. It was based on votes from MTV & CMT's web site. It had an open board of choices on the web page and voting was unlimited. In other words, one voter could vote 1,000 times for the same choice if they wanted.

They also suggested that MTV themselves had a crew of people hired to just vote around the clock.

This explains why many of the best artists were not even mentioned in the awards ceremony. This dishonesty will only speed up the regression of their pathetic industry. The good talented artists are completely thrown under the bus to make room for Leftist fanatics with less than average talent.

First we had the myth that Joe Wilson was persecuted. Now we have the myth that the Dixie Chicks are persecuted.

Thanks. I had serious doubts that any of them has had any kind of traditional post-high school education.
