I think there's a split between the law-and-order,fiscal conservatives and the social conservatives.
But the fact is, once you get past judges, if you get a socially liberal president who happens to also believe in limiting the federal government's reach, you could be OK. You want your social conservatives in your legislatures, local, then state, and then federal. President is only important if you have a liberal legislature that will send up stuff that needs to be vetoed.
