There's more on the link. I just put up the speech itself. At the bottom of the page, I believe, are his remarks to reporters after his speech.

I'm liking more and more of this man the more I hear about him. Can we have some input from people of southern California?

Argh, got the date wrong. Can you switch it to January 25, 2007?

I agree with Duncan Hunter on most everything I've seen him talk about.....his problem is going to be money...money and money.....and exposure.....

As an engineer I say this is way too over-calculated, and IMHO he'll sink himself if he continues in this vein, but otherwise this is good. IMHO.

Our motto will be: “Get them their permits while they are still young.”

I hope he isn't serious about this. Not too catchy.

Hunter should have ran for President in 2000.

I have nothing against him, he's a great man, just that he's a career Congressman who really should have tried to gain more influence and name recognition over the years.

I'm sorry, but I still don't think he's going to win. What he should do is run for Speaker of the House if he really wants to change things and get the GOP back on message.

He initially made his intentions known in October. It was only last month that he made it official.

It sounds genuine, no wishy-washy crap. Sounds like he is sincere in his positions not just the usual political BS.
I like that.

He's wrong on free trade issues. We subsidize the crap out of our farmers in order to flood the world with our agricutural products.

China subsidizes the electronics it sends here. We subsidize our exports too. I'm all for getting a trade advantage, but you either have to be for fair and honest, or just do the spin game.

It's about time someone else got some coverage. Let's make a race out of this thing. The only problem right now is Hunter's name recognition outside CA is about .5%.

Yes.....outside of Calif or those of us who keep up on these matters, he is a no name.....but then again, so was Clinton when he started....so we'll just have to watch and see....the one thing he needs to do is hire great staff and campaign people or he will drown

I like straight talk. Most of America says they like straight talk. It is only the "elites" in this country who think we have to talk in circles to be the enlightened educated leaders of today. Americans need to pay attention to our country. Either they like straight talk and vote for people - politicians - who do so or they prefer to vote for whoever tells them what they want to hear, even if they know it's not true, just to appear to be smart.
