The current salary level for judges "is insufficient to attract the finest members" of the legal profession to accept appointments to the bench, Kennedy said during a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Kennedy picked up on an issue that Chief Justice John Roberts recently called a "constitutional crisis."

Considering most have a job for life and make more than most of the population, I wouldn't whine about it.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to read the US Constitution, that's why it's not a requirement that a supreme court justice even be a lawyer. Maybe he wants someone who's a little more creative.

The SCOTUS is suffering from low morale and judicial independence because of low pay? How much does it cost to buy judicial independence?
The last time I watched the appointment process, money was not even mentioned.
If Kennedy is unhappy about his pay, he can always get another job.

I hope the entire Ninth Circuit quits in despair.

The man is way overpaid.

Considering what a disappointment he's been, he should give back some of what we've paid him.

Maybe Anthony Kennedy, JP Stevens, Ruth Ginsburg, David Souter and some of the other "finest minds" in the legal profession will retire and go make more money somewhere else. Yippee Ki Yay.
