LOL.

Well, with as many of you guys feverishly pushing for a liberal to be nominated as the Republican nominee, you've got to admit that I have a reason to worry. C'mon, the guy's a gun grabber. Since when do we as conservatives go to bat for gun grabbers? He's an abortionist! He supports partial birth abortion! I am totally flabbergasted that he gets even the measly 15% of support from the FReepers that he does:

http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/poll?poll=170;results=1

And even more flabbergasted by the very vocal group of Rudy supporters that are blasting our members daily and hammering them over the head with their defenses of his totally indefensible liberal positions. Abortion. Partial birth abortion. Gay unions. Gay rights. Gun control. Illegal immigration. Liberal appointees.

When conservatives argue so forcefully for this liberal bilge water, you've got to wonder when did some members of FR make a left turn into la la land.

Yeah, it's an open market and we definitely have free elections. We'll wait and see what happens.

May the best conservative win.

But I hope and pray we don't go with the liberal superstar. I'd like to think we're smarter and more capable than that... and that we learn from recent mistakes. Hello Arnie.

Agree. It will be a great debate.

I disagree with your view of Giuliani, having gotten to know him over many years. I also think the "blasting" and "hammering" people over the head goes entirely the other way. But like many debates on FR, this one will be resolved and we will be on the same side in the battle for America's future.

Hey Jim, I think it's the other way around. Some of the stuff posted here in the past two weeks about Rudy is hate filled and vile.

AND to compare Rudy with hillary. That's the ultimate outrage by FR members who are doing that. How many 9/11 funerals and wakes did the wicked one attend vs. how many did Rudy Giuliani attend (hundreds or more). Rudy is a great American and if he is the GOP candidate after the primaries he will be a great President.

I certainly do not agree with Rudy on some of his social positions from a personal standpoint, but when it comes to electing a President social issues aren't a top priority for who I vote for. It pro-military, strong national defense posture in the world, tough on crime and lower taxes. From my perspective the social issues fall under the category of advocate NOT legislate.

I'm hoping most of those positions were due to his running for office in a hopelessy liberal city and that he comes around and clarifies his stances to the satisfaction of people like us here on FR.

If he doesn't he will split the GOP, there's no doubt about that (probably won't get the nomination either).

I have to believe he will squash the liberal BS and announce that he is a conservative early in the primary process.

I actually wonder whether they were really conservatives to begin with. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who have deluded themselves into believing that the fact that they always vote for the GOP means they are conservatives.

Sure Rudy did a great job in NYC after we were attacked, but the truth is that a lot of Democrats would have acted the same way (Ed Koch has been a big supporter of the War on Terror). And the fact is that what he did after 9/11 was the JOB HE WAS ELECTED TO DO, why should we give him a pass on everything else just because he did his job?

"Hello Arnie." I was enhusiastic at first for Arnie. Whooooboy was I wrong.
As the WHO said: "Won't get fooled again"
I expressed my displeasure recently with the RNC over their support of Chafee in Rhode Island. I received no reply. Not a surprise as I was rather err... forceful in my email.
NO MORE RINOS!

Easy. When observing the ugliness of some of the most confrontational 'social conservatives'.

Thank you. I've been feeling a little bit out of place, what with the All Rudy, All The Time threads.

I think the right approach is to nominate someone who can appeal to as many types of conservatives as possible.

I supported George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004, despite some misgivings (I didn't like his position on the AWB, and remembered when he stuck his nose in to California politics by opposing Prop. 187). Still, I don't regret supporting him, as he has done a respectable job in at least a few areas.

That said, "I have gone this far, and will go no further." Any candidate that I support will be at least as conservative as George W. Bush, which is not a tall order, IMO.

I have heard Sean Hannity supporting Gulianni...it drives me nuts!

OK..Sean is a NYer, and Rudy did a good job at 911, but COME ON!?!? That is a one trick pony at best, and more likely someone who is going to undermine our future security much worse by taking our guns, taxing us into a hole, and undermining our moral values with homosexual marriage and abortion.
